Another street to love

Wandering down here, you get a real feel for Salzburg. The mix of old and new is fantastic. Lots of things to buy...good luck if you're just window shopping!

We walked down this road every day while in Salzburg as it was close to our hotel. We stopped in a nice café but only window shopped and didn't go in any of them.

Its a lovely walk through Linzergrasse. There are some interesting shops on both sides and some really nice restaurants and cafes. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from one end to another if you're not in a hurry. Its a great place to walk through stopping having your coffee or a meal.

Yes, there are many lovely old buildings in and off this street but actually it is in the area called the 'New Town'. In this part of Salzburg you will find the types of retail outlets and offices found in most cities. There's also Mirabell Palace and Gardens, St. Sebastian Church to be seen when heading from the train station... More

Like most European cities, typical narrow street line with quaint shops and restaurants in a small town atmosphere.

Salzburg is such a wonderful city to walk, and Linzergasse is a street that more resembles a town or a downtown, not a tourist street. Actually it was the street that took us to the old town Altstadt from the train station. You will find local shops, tour and travel offices and of course Mirabell Palace and Kaputzinerberg. As you... We actually stayed in Linzer Gasse, and it was the perfect location. Lots of local shops and just a short walk to the Old Town. Loved the atmosphere and ambience. Would definitely recommend this area to anyone visiting Salzburg.

This old street once featured one of the exit gates from the old town, which along with most of the buildins near the Platzl square lay in total ruins after the US bombing raids of late 1944. The buildings were largely rebuilt in the old style so as not to spoil the image of the old part of town. Walking... More
