For those interested in early medieval history, the climb up the sometimes steep, uneven stone steps will be rewarded. And the view of the Church and it's historic cemetery is worth the climb.

Interesting location in the side of the cliff. I did not like the site and would not go out of my way to visit the catacombs.

If you just go in and pay your two euros and walk up in down, then yes you will say it is not worth doing, but if you take your time to actually read what you are looking at and realise that these are ancient...More

Yes, there's not much to these "catacombs," but the construction in the rock is amazing and the views are spectacular. Definitely worth the 10-15 min visit and stairs to the top.

Included in Salzburg card so gave it go. Basically just a steep set of stairs to a little cave. Not much more exciting Than that. The graveyard outside is very pretty though and worth a wander around.

A little hidden but fine. Lots of stairs. The guide you are given is in your language. This is small and quick, but it's cool to say I've been in a catacomb.

We visited the catacombs of Salzburg recently and founbd it a solemn and quite moving experience. Some of the headstones and markings were quite magnificent and the setting beneath the hill and the Salzburg Fortress pressed between St Peters was inspiring.

Having paid our - admittedly not very expensive - entrance fee, we then discovered that the catacombs were up a near-vertical flight of steps, which was very difficult for me due to bad hips and knees - it would have been good to know before...More

An interesting walk up to the catacombs. There some quite big steps along the way but also some great views through some interesting windows. Well worth it.

At the far side of st peters cemetary lies the Mozart family gravesite at LIX. Walk inside and there is the entrance to the catacombs. Walk up several stone steps. At that level is a beautiful chapel hidden in stone. Walk to the next level...More
