The concert was simply fantastic! The audience was thrilled and entertained from start to finish. The varied selection of pieces created a great atmosphere in the hall, and the artist's interaction with the audience created an unforgettable atmosphere.
Thank you very much!

We took the Festung-Bahn up the mountain. The ride was included in the dinner/concert ticket. We went early so we could walk around and see the Fortress before we went to dinner. The dinner was in a restaurant on the side of the Fortress that overlooked the city. The concert was in a room in the Fortress quite a little walk from the restaurant. It was up a flight of stairs on the outside of the building through an unmarked door. If you didn't know where you were going, you would not find it on your own. Wear comfortable shoes.

I would probably recommend skipping the river cruise or doing it separately. When we booked, we did not realize that you take the river cruise then must walk on your own to the fortress. You take a furuncle to the top of the fortress for your meal. Paying just a little more for VIP tickets gets you a seat by the windows for a fantastic view. You basically have a choice between two set menus-veal or fish. The meal was fairly good and the service very good. After the meal you walk to the concert room. It was raining and everyone got soaked. It was extremely hot in both the restaurant and concert room. Dress accordingly. I took a hand fan which helped. The concert was superb. Very talented musicians. A must event while in Salzburg.

We went to an Advent concert with dinner. Unfortunately, the quality was very poor. The dinner was canteen food, bad, and the concert sounded like a concert rehearsal. It's a shame, because it's a great city and a great location. Tourist rip-offs here.

We loved the dinner and enjoyed the concert, but felt that the timing was a little awkward in that we were not able to explore the fortress thoroughly as the museums were closed by the time we came up and the fortress was really quiet and dark by the time of the concert. Would have enjoyed it more if the concert was held earlier before the dinner.

Dear Dori,
thank you very much for the nice comments for our Best of Mozart Concert and Dinner.
In the winter time the museums close at 5.00pm and the visit of the museums is not included in the Dinner & Concert ticket price. Therefor the first possible ride for free with the cable car is indicated with 5.30pm. At the same time the restaurant is open for the Best of Mozart Concert and Dinner guests.
We wish you merry christmas and a happy new year!

There are a few ways you can enjoy some time at the Salzburg Fortress. You can take the funicular and just walk around it - the views are astounding - or you can get a package deal with a cruise, dinner and concert, just dinner and a concert, or just a concert. I would not recommend the cruise. It is a closed vessel and not really worth the extra money. The dinner is very nice and the views and spaces are enjoyable. The concert is very nice - I recommend sitting near the front to see the musicians. It was not the best concert I have ever attended, but we did enjoy it.

So we did the VIP dinner and concert tour at the fortress. First off we went up in the funicular to the fortress. Impressive by itself. However dinner was appalling. Yes there is good views from the restaurant but the best thing I can say about dinner was the bread roll to start. The soup was average, the mains were well below average and dessert - do yourself a favour and don't even bother consuming. The concert however was fantastic. All musicians were very very good!!! I would go to another show here again. Considering we paid 75 euro each for this experience I would say just buy yourself a ticket to the concert and dinner somewhere beforehand. I would review the concert 5 stars but the restaurant 1.

It delivered what I expected. Boat ride: information about the area and (I’m a water person) a chance to see the fierce current on the Salzach River. Dinner: great view, decent Prosecco, wait staff was excellent Concert: okay first there were like a million stairs. Yes a million. But the room where the ensemble played was beautiful, with a wonderful view of Salzburg. It was sunset, so beautiful photos. The ensemble was tight and obviously enjoyed playing with one another.

This is somewhat misrepresented as a single combined tour. Instead it is tickets to three separate events and you are expected to get yourself from the ship to the funicular and the walk is a bit far if you have mobility issues. This should be stated in the description.
The boat cruise was delightful and the captain was a joy. I was nice to go beyond the city center and see some of the outlying areas.
Dinner was good and the views were amazing.
Getting from the dinner to the concert involved many steps which, again, should have been disclosed. The concert was lovely.
Note: Tours should include approximate walking distance and clear indications of how many steps are involved. Also, there is no tour guide included since these are three separate tickets.

The description of the dinner in the advertising was "Enjoy a dinner with marvelous views to Salzburg City and its surroundings". There were no views while at dinner. The dinner was in a crowded restaurant at the fortress which had no more atmosphere than your average restaurant in the city. The food was decidedly average ( we had the standard menu so I cannot comment on the VIP one) - a tomato soup that tasted like ketchup, a roast chicken dish that was pretty dry and a dessert which was beautiful, but bland. Drinks were not included and the prices were quite steep! They tried to sell us a 90 euro bottle of wine. What a waste that would have been paired with the boring food. In the end we settled for the cheapest wine on the menu at 36 euros.
The concert was absolutely outstanding, a varied program which included some of the favorites you would expect in a touristic concert, but also some less well-known pieces. The orchestra was fantastic. I was not expecting much, given the touristy nature of the evening, but they were truly talented. The concert was in a beautiful hall in the fortress, which allowed you to imagine you were back in Mozart's time, listening to his beautiful music. In the end, the concert made it all worthwhile, but... if it were possible, I would skip the dinner and just do the concert. We are giving this three stars, but in truth the concert was a 5 star event and the dinner would rate 2 stars.

I will be visiting Salzburg in a month (2nd half of June) with my parents. My mother has somewhat limited mobility (she walks with a cane). I have read a few comments online that getting to the concert hall in the fortress is not advisable for people with limited mobility. How much of an issue is this really - how many flights of stairs? are there railings with the stairs? Any detailed advice would be appreciated! One more question... I note the buses do not operate in the Old Town, so the only mode of public transport to and from the fortress is a taxi? Thank you!
Written 14 May 2018
The man in front of us used a cane, and he was quite worn out/winded by the time he made it down all the steps after the concert. First you must go up steps outside the fortress. They do have a railing, but it’s at least 1.5 flights. Once inside, it’s almost another 2 flights of stairs to get to the concert area, and it’s through turrets. I think there was a railing. I’m not sure about the public transportation part. We walked from the main bus stop (but we are ages 28 & 30, so keep that in mind :) ). Once you get to the tram entrance, that will take you up to the fort (and the stairs are after that). The tram entrance is in the old town at the base of the fort and the ticket for it should be included with your concert ticket. I hope this helps!

Have booked a VIP but I cannot find anywhere what's included in terms of food and drink. Someone said that you get a glas of sparkling wine in the intermission for example. where can I find info about what is served?

Given we intend to take the river trip first we would like to know what attire is suitable for the dinner and concert. we are thinking the boat trip and the dinner/concert might be better on different days. has anyone done all three together and how did you get on.
