About Innsbrucker Nordkettenbahnen
PANORAMIC MOUNTAIN The mountain at the heart of Innsbruck. The Nordkette is part of Austria’s largest nature park, the Karwendel Nature Park, and can be reached directly from Innsbruck city centre in just a few minutes! The breathtaking 360° view leaves a lasting impression, with the capital of the Alps on one side and Tyrol’s most extensive conservation area on the other. The Hungerburg funicular enables visitors to reach the Hungerburg in just 8 minutes. There are several stops along the way including the Alpine Zoo, which is a favorite among families. After reaching the Hungerburg station, a short walk across Hermann Buhl Square, named after the world-famous Austrian mountaineer, leads visitors to the cable car station. The Seegrube, at an altitude of 6,250 ft invites visitors and locals alike to relax, unwind and take in nature at its very best. Lying at an impressive 7,401 ft, the Hafelekar offers the most spectacular viewing experience.

Nothing to complain about: start of the art rail/cable way combination allowing access to a stunning view. Not cheap but definitely worth it.

It might be quite the investment (€76 for 2) but going to the top of Innsbruck is a “must have” for all first timers. The view is just breathtaking and it is a great way of “exposure therapy” for someone with a fear of hights. As a patient myself, I can say it is a bit of a challenge, but I felt great doing it! Truly a magnificent scenery up top!

Excellent escape out of the city, Hafelekar and Seegrube have amazing views. It is cooler than in the city, and clouds may block the view. Definitely a must go in Innsbruck.

its a bid an older cable car and a bid time consuming but once you are on top you get awarded with 360degree views of the Alps.

Going up the Mountain with the cable car at the Nordkette side is something that is great. The views are amazing, when you are up there, you can walks around quit a bit as well, it is just great. Herby some practical tips: - if you are a tourist visiting, you may consider buying the so called Innsbruck card. We bought this card for 48 hours - it includes all tourist attractions (incl. The Nordkette), all public transportation and so on. - if you park your car in the parking garage Congress/City, right at the start point of the Nordkette, you can get your parking card paid at the Nordkette ticket office. - you may consider to go early (9.00 or so), so you can avoid possible crowds or waiting lines. - look at the picture of other reviews, it is great!
