Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A large venue which has held Olympic events.
It has an outdoor skating area and two large indoor skating rinks which are well maintained.
The venue could do with some updating in laces but is functional and is well used by locals.
It was a great venue for the ice hockey, speed skating and figure skating during the World Winter Masters Games.
The Sports Bar inside the venue is reasonably priced and does a good range of snacks and drinks - the staff in the bar are very pleasant.

Over in a flash - 58 seconds. Exhilarating, disorientating. Wow. Yes a Bucket list. 100 euros is not cheap but well worth. A walk with the guide to the top of the run - plenty of puff needed for this. I did the 4 man Bob - two guests three Bobs running at intervals, that have to be returned to the start/top of the run, which means waiting, especially if you are the last of the Bobs. Great a must.

Great oval, great rink, super clean, great washroom facilities, beautiful views - but almost impossible to find the restaurant. I know it was there, but where. There was a snack bar that also sold beer.

Our teenage sons did the Taxi bobsleigh run at Olympic Park's Bobsleigh, luge and skeleton park at Igls, just outside Innsbruck. You have to pre-book on their website. Arrive early and you can watch athletes training. The taxi bobsled run is about 1.2km and it reaches speeds of up to 120km/hr, so fantastic for adrenalin seekers. Expensive, but an amazing experience.

There are two types of Bobsleigh ride you can take.

The first is the 'Guest Bobsleigh' which is a purpose built 6 man bob that 5 guests including older children (they provide a driver) can ride for 30 Euros. This starts at 'Start 2' (or the Ladies start) and will get up to speeds of over 60 mph, it may not look that quick but when you are in the corners it feels great.

The second is the 'Taxi Bobsleigh'. This is a proper four man bobsleigh, you rent the two seats in the middle at 95 Euro a head, they provide a driver and a brakeman. You start from 'Start 1' or the mens start and power down the run. This is a real adrenaline rush and much faster than the Guest Bobsleigh, reaching around 80 - 90 mph, we did the 1.2Km course in under a minute which would have been quicker than the guys that won the Gold in 1964 would have done. I know some people would scream 'mid life crisis' on the way down the run, but I am not sure any theme park will better this ride.

For these experiences the whole set up is great, the guest bobsleigh is a 'turn up' so no booking is required but the Taxi bobsleigh needs to be booked beforehand.

Just make sure you go to the 'Zielhaus' first to get your tickets and then ride up from the finish to the start in the back of the truck with the bobsleighs. I would turn up early and then you can watch the others coming down the track from the CCTV on the big screen or in the Bob café, or just watch from the overtrack gantry.

The dates and times are on the website http://www.olympiaworld.at/en/sport_aktiv/eissport/bob_rodeln_skeleton.php. In my experience if the Taxi time you want isn't available, just email them and they might be able to squeeze you in, when we visited the RAF/Navy/Army Luge and Skeleton teams were also there using the track and that really is a sport for nutters!

I am writing this because I found little information about it before we went and actually found it quite difficult to find! If you are interested in this real life roller coaster ride you have to take the J bus from innsbruck marked Olimpiaexpress. Stay on until the end of the line where the bus turns around. Then walk down the hill to the Zielhaus to buy tickets for the guest bob. Check the times/dates here before you go http://www.olympiaworld.at/en/sport_aktiv/eissport/bob_rodeln_skeleton.php
There are no reservations and the dates/ times aren't published until at least August. It's a great experience. If you have anyone who is not riding tell them to go into the bob cafe where they can see the run on the screen (we videoed the screen and have a great souvenir)

What a GREAT ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE!!! We LOVED the Summer Bob! We rode down this 1,270 m long Olympic bobsleigh run in lgls with a bobsleigh pilot, a pilot who was in the Olympics over 30 years ago-he took us on the ride of our lives-safely!! My husband, brother and I put on professional helmets, got a short lesson of what to do and not to do, we jumped in along with the pilot and off we went! We hurtled down this spectacular run to include the world famous "Kreisel" turn and labyrinth at a speed of over 100km in just 60 seconds! You have to do this, it is well worth the 25 Euro we spent when we went this summer (August 2014)! It was a little difficult to "find", but we made it and we are SO Happy we did! E-mail :Birgit and Peter Knauseder: office@knauseder-event.at Tel (0043) 664 2024797 Check out their schedule because it does not run daily and it is only for a few hours when it does run, but GO!

My dad competed in the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics as a figure skater for Canada. He still sometimes wears his issued Hudson's Bay Company Olympic uniform parka. So coming to Innsbruck means that a tour of the Olympic facilities is essential.

The city does a great job in keeping the facilities up to date and functioning for both competition and public use. The exhibits here and there are informative but very basic.

The sad thing is that there is no formal dedicated museum that tells the entire story of both the 64 and 76 Olympics. I was surprised about this. There is a lot of history to explain to the public here ( the whole Denver 76 debacle is one great story in itself). I heard that a formal museum was planned as part of Olympiaworld but it has been put on hold.

Pre-booked the guest bobsleigh for my husband. He loved it but be warned it is all over in less than 1 minute. Once in a lifetime experience. Accessible by bus J from Innsbruck - make sure you get a bus that is going all the way to Olympia Express (terminus) as not all do.
At €95 for a 1 min ride it is expensive but never to be forgotten. Arrive early & watch people training & walk up to the top by the side of the track to take it all in.
Staff were helpful & friendly, both when trying to pre book & on the day.

We did the taxi bobsleigh run at Innsbruck Olympic track. 1270 metres of track in under a minute with speeds of up to 120kpm! The bob holds 2 guests, the driver and a brakesman. At 99 euros each this is not a cheap experience but it is a once in a lifetime thing to do. Bookable online.
There are 14 corners including a roundabout turn so you do get knocked around in the bobsleigh. The G force can reach 4.6g and I did struggle to take a breath as you feel the pressure in your chest with the speed. Just as you think your body cannot cope anymore you pass through the labyrinth which is 3 turns in close succession then the brakesman applies the brakes. You do get a certificate after the ride but no video available and go pros not allowed.
An amazing experience and pure adrenaline rush. Be prepared for the g forces though and think about this before you decide to ride. An alternative slightly slower/ cheaper option is the guest bobsleigh ride where 5 people share the bobsleigh and it starts lower down the course on the 4th corner at the women’s start. This is only €30 and dates/times are on their website.
