Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the most delightful part of Bregenz, yet it is the area most people miss if they stay in the shopping/restaurant area of town closet to the lake. You need to head uphill towards the altstadt to reach the really pretty part of town. The architecture of the buildings is interesting and there are quaint sculptures and houses. Look out for the smallest house in Europe (57cm wide!) on Kirchstrasse.

Wandering around a city’s old town is also enjoyable and this is no different.
Beautifully quaint and historic. What is even more amazing is how quiet it is. There were hardly any tourists when we walked around. That gave it a wonderful peaceful atmosphere, despite the Summer heat.

Most people believe that Bregenz is about the Seepromenade or the shopping and restaurant district but if they don't venture beyond this area, they are truly missing the best part of Bregenz. From the Altes Rathaus to the Pfarrkirche St Gallus, this section of Bregenz is a true delight! We wandered around this area for several hours and were so glad we did. Do not miss this section of Bregenz!!

We wandered up to the old part of Bregenz away from the main shopping area and discovered a tranquil area, full of history and interesting architecture.

MIDDLE-AGE GLAIR. Steep ascent over cobblestones worthwhile. Well maintained and very touristy but still i.O.

The ancient heart of the city enclosed by fortification walls, the original coats of arms affixed to the entrance door and the mummified shark take us back to the bygone era when myths and legends had a strong impact on citizens. The story of the old Guta was told to us by the Sabine Guide in the square Ehreguta.... led us to 1406 in which the elderly woman saved the inhabitants from an attack by the Appenzellians from which she had learned .... revealed the secret covered by oath .... to the walls (but secretly the first citizens of Bregenz heard everything and prepared for the offensive that succeeded him), so Guta did not pass for traitor but savior of Bregenz.

The most beautiful part of Bregenz, and no tourists up here! It's definitely worth going up, even if the road is quite steep.

To visit the upper town, get the map from the tourist office and follow it. There we discover beautiful buildings and certain emblematic monuments of the city: the St Martin's Tower, the castle, the narrowest house in Germany, etc. Be careful, there are stairs for the shortest way! Allow a good hour to do the complete tour.
