- NilsM73Bergen, Norway114 contributions360 experienceHad coffee, cake and some drinks while we twirled around with a spectacular view. Service was great with large drinks and coffee. Our teenager found some great local non-alcoholic drinks. Company left with high spirits. Make sure you sit down and take the time for a twirl. Thanks for your visit and feedback.Written 2 December 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 October 2023
- PavlaPavlaChrudim, Czech Republic7,538 contributionsClassic 1960s architectureThe Danube Tower is located in the Donaupark and it is a nice walk from the subway stop through this park. The open terrace is at a height of 150 meters and the view of Vienna is really beautiful from here. With good visibility, you can also see Bratislava (the capital of Slovakia) from here. An elevator will take you to the terrace in 35 seconds. There is a café with a panoramic view, where they offer pastries and coffee. In a height of 170 meters there is a restaurant with a 360-degree panoramic view. It wasn’t busy when we arrived and were whisked up to the top quickly. The views are outstanding with all of Vienna visible. I was apprehensive about booking the restaurant as I could not find many reviews. But my god it did not disappoint. I wanted something special for my partner's birthday and saw on the website that they offered special romantic deals. I had booked the seventh heaven package which included 9 stem Rose's, a bottle of sparkling wine and table decorations.
The food was incredible.
The view of vienna was amazing and you could barely feel the tower turning.

It's near the metro station and that's really helpful. They also provide free shuttle service to the metro station on the way back. The view is breathtaking really. The entrance fee is really overpriced just to go up and admire the view. Cafe has normal prices.

The Donauturm offers you a view of the Austrian capital from approximately 150m above the ground. The view is amazing and won’t cost you a fortune. Account for a bit of waiting time, since there are only 2 elevators available. If you are into it, you can also take advantage of the in-house restaurant or cafe, enjoying your meal with Vienna at your feet. Make sure to call ahead and make a reservation.

The receptionists were extremely unmotivated and very poorly trained. We waited 10 minutes at the restaurant for someone to show interest and take us to our table.
A very loud waitress who thinks she's good...tells her life story at every table, begs for reviews, says her name is Birgit and wears a name tag with Petra on it!?!?
The very, very manageable hot buffet was COLD, some of it already empty (at 11am!!!), the breaded schnitzels were already dried out...The salad buffet was ICE COLD, very unpleasant to eat, and some of it was definitely from a can. No fresh leaf salads at all. The cold buffet consisted of 1 x ham, 1 x roast, 1 x roast beef, 1 x smoked salmon. With smeared sauce containers. There were 3 types of cheese to choose from.
Soup...of course...cold! And for that you pay €54 + €7 for the lift, + drinks 0.5 liters
€6!!
The so-called boss runs around aimlessly, touches the inside of the soup bowls with his bare hands because he thinks he has to turn them over, stirs the food with some kind of cutlery...
The much-vaunted renovation in 2018, which cost an alleged €10 million, has gone more than wrong...no one has heard of air conditioning...
All in all, once and never again!!
And absolutely NOT recommended.

Located 20 minutes by walk from the U6 Alte Donau or the U1 Kaisermühlen metro stations, there is also a car park. There is an outdoor terrace at 150 metres, an indoor terrace one level upper, a cafè and on reservation a restaurant. Attraction to be done on sunny days. It is the highest observation point in Austria. Ticket is 16 € for adults.

It is an attraction that is unprofitable from an economic point of view as well as from an area point of view. As for the area, it is around 8 kmh outside the center, to reach it you will need either public transport or a taxi. As for the economic part, it was 18 euros only for the entrance, it has 2 elevators but one is used, the other is used the employees, so you wait a quarter of an hour there, the restaurant and the cafeteria you should have made a reservation a few days before in order to enjoy the hot prices they have and especially in the restaurant they wanted us to pre-order the food we would choose along with the reservation , Finally we decided to have dinner at the lower restaurant that has a train passing by, and for 2 hamburgers and 2 soft drinks that we waited 2 hours for to be brought to us, the price was 50 euros. Out of all of Vienna, it was the only attraction that stigmatized me negatively

Thank you for your detailed feedback. We are sincerely sorry to hear that your visit did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your insights and take your feedback very seriously.
We would like to clarify that a table reservation is required at the Tower Restaurant before your visit, and a la carte selection without prior ordering is also possible, unless it involves larger groups. A reservation for brunch at the Tower Cafe on weekends and holidays is also required. For the coffeehouse service during the week, as well as after brunch on weekends at the Tower Cafe and on holidays, no reservation is required; tables are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
We sincerely apologize for the waiting times at the Donaubräu. Your experience is of utmost importance to us, and we will ensure that this matter is addressed with our team to make improvements.
We would also like to note that checking our website before your visit may have helped avoid disappointments and provide a better understanding of our offerings.

This is a great place to get an overview of Vienna, as well as having a café and a great restaurant. However, it is incredibly impractical in terms of public transport, with the nearest underground stop 15-20 minutes walk away. In the dark it’s quite scary as some of the way is very poorly lit. Worst of all, there are no signs ( that we could see, having arrived one way and left by another) to the tower! I can’t understand why there’s no shuttle bus to the nearest station. The city authorities- usually very efficient - seem to have forgotten about this place, or don’t want visitors to go there…

So went on the off chance and got a nice surprise no queue. So admission is €18 for adults, but to be honest you won’t get any better views in Vienna than this. Lift zooms up in seconds which is really impressive. So they have viewing terraces at 150m and inside at 155m. But if you fancy dining you can also view from 170m. So in general worth a visit if you have some spare time in Vienna

When we visit the big cities of the world, me and my partner do it as much as possible with tourist tour buses.
In Vienna, Austria, having taken the 48-hour package, we were entitled to this DDSG Blue Danube cruise on this famous European waterway.
This is how on the route, we were able to see to the north of the river the “Danube Tower” or “Donauturm” in German. Let us say it immediately, this structure is very similar to most of this type of point of view as we see it around the world.
Furthermore, a little reading tells us that it is 252 meters long and was inaugurated in 1964. There is a revolving restaurant, which offers a spectacular view of Vienna and its surroundings.
And for thrill-seekers, you can do a “bungee jump” from the top of the tower...

I bambini sotto i 3 anni possono salire sulla torre?
Written 28 May 2023
There are elevators, therefore you do not have to climb up. Strollers may not be transported in the express elevators, therefore they cannot be taken to the observation terrace, the tower café or the tower restaurant.
Our staff at the ticket office will be happy to show you a place where you can leave your stroller.
Taking a Maxi-Cosi with you is a good alternative.

Hi, is it possible to visit this attraction without having a flexi pass ticket? Would I be able to go there and pay at the tower and what is the cost?
Written 13 December 2018
Hi,
Yes you can pay at the tower entrance. The admission prices are €14.50 for adults, €9.90 for children (6 to 14) and kids under 6 are free. Over 60’s get in for €11. If you are thinking about visiting the giant ferris wheel at the amusement park as well, then it will be better if you purchase a ‘combi’ ticket for the tower and the wheel for €19.60 (Adults) and €11.50 (Children) which can also be purchased from the tower entrance. There are other combination tickets available. The tower is open from 10am until mid-night.
