Top ways to experience Historic Center of Vienna
The area
Neighbourhood: Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.

Beautiful views, wonderful historical buildings.
Vienna has a good public transportation system so you can get there by metro or tram and explore by walking around
We did the horse tour which was nice too for 50 euros

You can spend 15 minutes or several hours … the architecture, strolling or just sitting in a esplanade, a lot to see and absorve

There was so much to see from the self guided walking tour, and all in such close proximity... Something beautiful is never more than a moment away.

A beautiful city with plenty to see and do, a touch on the pricey side so be prepared to spend. Easy to walk around and also easy to become familiar with the layout.

Beautiful buildings, clean and easily accessible via the U-bahn. You should take a walk to get a feel of the city. It can be pretty expensive to eat or have a coffee though.

This city was amazing to see. So much beauty and prestige perfect buildings. You could spend a year and just begin to understand the history and culture of this place.
Go to the center and walk. Get lost in shops, drinking coffee and having bratwurst.

The historic centre of Vienna is a UNSECO listed site, and no wonder with it’s vast architectural landscape.
Expect to see grand buildings, parks, monuments, Baroque castles and much more.
Stephansplatz is also only a few minutes away.
Depending on what your itinerary is, spend and hour or spend the day/ night.

Hotel Avenida. very basic in a tenement block, five minutes from town centre. lovely cafe opposite for breakfast etc, Lovely bed, made up every day, small shower. No electrical items are allowed because of the building being on a very old system. There is a sofa and a small shower cubicle. We were very comfortable and would stay again, 220 euros for 3 night for both of us.

ciao. Cosa ci puoi consigliare? conviene alloggiare in centro? Quanto tempo occorre per visitarla?
Grazie in anticipo

S-Bahn.

The airport is a long way out. But we had booked a shuttle bus in to town centre and spent two days on the tourist bus. Excellent. There are 3 buses with different routes, hop on, hop off all day long.

Yes it is easy a few minutes walk but advise taxi if your first visit. Taxis really are cheap.
