The great splendor of an empire is eclipsed by the bright lights of fastfood reastaurants. (seriously, it took me time to actually realize how beautiful the buildings are in that city). Vienna was a bit disappointing, but I can't deny its a beautiful city.

Absolutely must see. Huge part of past. Only thing we regret is too little time to feel this place :(

I love the architecture in Vienna (the old stuff) and it's a beautiful city with huge grand buildings. We spent a day just walking around the outside of them all and through the parks. There's a lot to see and do especially if you like museums.

The amount of historical buildings so close to each other is really impressive. There is something for each weather and taste - enjoy a walk in the generous pedestrian areas (Kärntner Strasse, Graben) and do some window shopping (or more if you can afford!), visit one of the famous and well taken care of parks or if the weather is... The immediate feeling once got off the Metro was of a city of sublime beauty. Everything conjures to enjoy to walks trough beautiful parks and gardens, well kept buildings many of great historical interest . Above the rest the Ring.

We spent 2 days for the old town but it seems like there are so much to see, to explore, to discover, time is never enough. Vienna seems to have a distinct old world charm in every corner of the city that never failed to surprise us and made us love the city even more. We stopped in many coffee... More

What can I say what has not already been said? Vienna is stunning, full of history, one of my favourite cities. All is genuine and the fact that the city has not been so much destroyed during WW2 makes that there is this special historic atmosphere.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
