It was an afternoon well spend, we stroll through the Nachtsmarket and back and stop at every fresh produce stall to admire all the beautiful fruit and veggies and all the home made delicatessens!

If you have ever been to a continental market before, the Naschmarkt will be familiar to you. The majority of the food stalls sell the same items such as fruit, nuts, vegetables, cheese, bread, etc. As you walk through the market, be prepared for a lot of repetition. There are also a number of fixed areas which serve prepared food... More

The Naschmarkt is always a treat, one can get linger in there for hours looking around smelling and soaking in everything that is Austrian! From specialty shops that sell local produce to savoring a great dish, Naschmarkt has always been my go-to place whenever I visit Vienna.

Are across this on our wanders and remembered it from Rick Steins weekends on telly. It was Saturday early evening and it was buzzing. Loads if good stands and eating places. Shame we had already booked our restaurant for dinner.

On a Saturday there is an extensive flea market but the star attraction is the fresh produce. The huge array of spices and preserves is an assault on the senses. Plenty of places to eat and drink to sit and watch the world go by.

This is a very large outdoor market with amazing selections and restaurants. It's a perfect stop in Vienna if visiting during the summer months to eat outside. A unique selection is available and it's a chance to interact with locals. For any foodie travelers this is a must!

Staying in Wieden

Neighbourhood Profile
Wieden
The fourth district combines elegant tradition with contemporary style and relaxed living. More than a dozen town palaces and churches such as St. Charles Borromeo have added glamour to a neighbourhood known for its traditional retail and crafts shops, taverns, cafés. Wieden is also home to Naschmarkt, Vienna’s largest street market. Many bohemian types have found their way to Wieden: meet them in trendy cafés and bars, shop alongside them for vintage items, enjoy Wien Museum’s and Kunsthalle’s modern temporary exhibitions, and hang out with the bees at Vienna’s most beautiful urban garden, Karlsgarten.
