Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worst city boat cruise we have ever done. It’s mad that the city is so beautiful and clean and this area is absolutely awful, such a contrast. We thought it would be stunning. Huge sewage entry point, a multi story car park, a waste water plant and a hideous blue and gold chimney. No wonder our concierge couldn’t recommend it, the booking lady was almost laughing when we asked which city sights we would see! None…. I know you can’t make a river flow past historical sights but what a let down this area is to such a stunning city

Standing here, one gets a whiff of putrid smell. Garbage floating is completely unacceptable. But nice view.

Vienna's Danube Canal area is a great place to walk, run, bike, cross-country ski, or just to sit and contemplate the passing water. It's uncrowded and clean, at least in the winter.
Sadly, it seems that graffiti is more than just permitted; it's encouraged. I understand the argument for graffiti as a vernacular, urban art form. The problem is, most of what you see along the canal falls into one or more of the following categories: someone's "street" name in line lettering, someone's "street" name in block or bubble lettering, angry political commentary, or something doing something unprintable with some other thing (including, creatively enough, a turtle by its own shell).
Not all "art" is worth looking at, is the point, and the graffiti along Vienna's Danube Canal overwhelms what would otherwise be a peaceful and charming public space.

Did this cruise today. One of the most boring river cruises I have ever done. Poor commentary & little to see. My wife thought it included going onto the Danube River however it doesn’t. Best thing about it was the air conditioning which was refreshing on a hot day in Vienna.

On a sunny day it us great to walk the banks of the danube channels and just sit or relax, normaly you would have lots of places open for a drink or a bite to eat but due to covid that is closed. This is a nice small bridge called marienbrucke with a statue on it and the banks below close to schwedenplatz

What more can be said about this wonderful place? I approached by the Danube and saw immediately a choice of lovely, and lively, canals, these are an incredibly intimate way to see Vienna, with many sites and venues available exclusively to the waterway and water users,a definite must see due to the works of art and casual cafés

It was the first landmark we saw in Vienna: I was surprised as I didn't expect a place like that. It's very cool, plenty of bars and some of them have beach chairs. You can enjoy a beer or a walk among graffitis. Even at night it's colorful due to the lights. So Vienna revealed us its modern side. Stunning city.

We walked to the Danube canal from the centre of Vienna and were disappointed to see so much graffiti on the banks. Having just come from the lovely blue Danube in Budapest (and the river cruises there) we just didn't find it attractive enough - a shame really. Probably appeals more to the youngsters.

Despite the warnings from some Tripadvisor contributors that the canal area can be a bit seedy we did go along and look for ourselves. Sadly, the part we visited adjacent to the Augartenbrucke was much as reported - lots of graffiti and a general run down appearance. We are both in our 60s and it really did not appeal to us at all; however, the bars and terraces were very busy with younger folk to whom I guess it was full of character and life!
