In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.

- BradHong Kong, China178,366 contributionsVery enjoyable during September visitHave enjoyed strolls through Stadtpark during numerous trips to Vienna over the years. However, most trips have been during the dead of winter when the grounds and trees are bare and the environs harsh for monument viewing. However, recently spent time in the city during September when the weather was nice, trees still flush with green leaves and flowerbeds in bloom. The park was beautiful this autumn, monuments flanked with full trees, shrubs and vibrant beds, pond active with birdlife and the grounds being used by visitors enjoying what remained of the good autumn weather. Well worth spending time to enjoy Stadtpark, like other city parks, during the warmer months of the year. Monument viewing was really nice, lunch at Meierei am Stadtpark was fantastic yet again.Visited August 2023Travelled soloWritten 11 November 2023

There are beautiful flower beds, a pond, a stream, grassy areas where you can sit and relax or have picnic. There are an incredible number of benches, little and bigger paths to walk along, statues are at every turn here. There are floral clocks, astronomical clocks and the famous golden statue of Johann Strauss.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 July 2024

- HuckandharleyWashington DC, District of Columbia28 contributionsBeautiful surprise in the city with so much to offer. This park is a great green space to hang out in. We happen to be staying near it and ended up walking in this park many times. we visited the playground, the lake, and the metro station that was on this park. There is a small river that runs through it too and another level to walk on below. I was honestly pleasantly surprised by all that this park had to offer. It's one of those places that you discover as you walk through and may not realize how amazing it is until you do.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 August 2024

The Stadtpark is a large public park that’s divided into two sections by the River Vienna.I walked for this park. So clean and beautiful. It was quiet, with many statues throughout the park, the most popular is the one of Johann Strauss. It is a great place to relax as well.
The weather was hot/sunny 32c. We needed to escape the heat of the city, and this park was the perfect place to be. Lot's of shade given by plenty of trees. Plenty of benches to sit and chill, after walking around the city shops/sightseeing. The park was busy, with people doing the same as us. Nice place, love this place.

Walked through the city park, while it was nice there was not many winter spring flowers as one would have expected in late February and early march. One would have expected some colourful planting There was a bit of spring bulbs starting to come up, but the park was rather sparsely planted. It was not the most attractive and pleasant parks that I have been to. There was lots of seating and people getting some afternoon sun.

A nice park not too far from the old town. Not big, rather a small just to sit down to enjoy it. A few statues here and there and the most famous one of J. Strauss. If visiting early enough one may have a chance to take a photo without tourist around it.

The Vienna City Park appeared, one might say, thanks to the progress of artillery. The increase in the power of guns devalued the fortress walls of castles and cities... It became clear that the army could protect the city, but the walls could not. Therefore, the walls began to be demolished in all cities of Europe. The magistrate of Vienna decided to build a city park on the site of the demolished city wall. After leaving the metro of the same name, we found ourselves in a park. It was not easy to get to the center of Vienna, because one bridge over the shallow Wien canal was closed for repairs. The residents of Vienna do the same things in the park as the residents of Paris in Bercy, and New York in Central Park - they lie on the lawns, walk their dogs, play sports. The main hit of the park is the gilded statue of Strauss, but it is located south of the place where we crossed the park.

One of the joys of visiting Vienna is a stroll through Stadtpark, one of the greatest parks in this most beautiful of city's.
The park is quite large and extends from Ringstraße in the Innere Stadt to the Heumarkt ( Hay Market ).
The park is beautifully laid out with lots of statue's and monuments in to famous Viennese artists ,writers and composers such as Hans Canon,Johann Strauss ,Emil Jakob Schindler,Franz Schubert ,Anton Bruckner and many more, some great buildings in the park including the stunning Kursalon Building ,it's such a peaceful oasis of calm to chill out in and just relax no matter what the weather is like ,my twin brother Stephen and I were in Vienna in the run up to the Christmas and visited the park a couple of times ,temperatures in the minus it was still a joy to walk around ,loved it ,it's a park to most definitely check out if you're planning a holiday to Vienna.

If you fancy escaping from the crowds in Vienna, do consider going to the Stadtpark. It's a peaceful place with statues of composers / conductors, some well known, some not. The 'Stubentor' underground station is nearby, less than 5 minutes walk if you are using a day ticket on Vienna's transport system.

I went there on a morning walk from my hotel on Stephansplatz. The statue of Johann Strauss is located just after entering the park, directing the dance of a glittering waltz.
There were many people of Turkish or Arab descent hanging out on a bench nearby, chatting. They looked like day laborers waiting for work, but this must also be a place of relaxation.

ik ga met mijn bejaarde moeder in augustus naar Wenen. We hebben van vroeger herinneringen aan concerten buiten in de parken. Weet iemand of deze er nog zijn en hoe je er achter komt waar en wanneer deze concertjes zijn? Alvast bedankt. Tilly

Thank you for your review, Tom. Do you recall how to find the bronze penguins? We have been searching for them, with no success. Thanks!

We simply came across them as we strolled along one of the paved pathways, nearly in view of the Mozart monument.
