About
The Leopold Museum is a unique treasure-house of Viennese Jugendstil, the Wiener Werkstätte and Expressionism. It is the most-visited museum of the city's hottest cultural site, the MuseumsQuartier, and it houses the most significant and largest Egon Schiele collection in the world, as well as masterworks by Secession founder Gustav Klimt. Tip: The museum's panorama windows offer a wonderful view of central Vienna with Maria Theresa Square and the Hofburg Palace.

The life of Klimt in a nutshell
May 2021
If you read Elisabeth Hickey's "The painted kiss", you'll see everything that is described about Klimt's life in the @leopold_museum, from Klimt's works of art and life, to the people in his life, Emilie Flöge, Schiele, Moser and the Secession.
Also, the Museum was great organized. They have taken all the pandemic measures for a safe visit, it was not crowded at all. The people working there, were very kind, we even exchanged some after-opinions with the doorman, very nice guy.
Perfect time for a visit! Definitely would come again!

Entering the museum
Feb 2021 • Family
People were standing outside the museum while entering the museum. The wait was for about 30minutes! That is totally unacceptable. I got cold while waiting, and hope it’s not corona. There were old ladies and even disabled people waiting.

A fantastic collection
Sep 2020
If I had known what a fantastic museum this is, I would have visited earlier on or taken more time for it. The Leopold Museum has one of the best and most extensive collections of expressionist art that I have seen. Its exterior may not be as iconic as, for example, that of the KHM, but its art is highly impressive. Unmissable, especially for those who appreciate expressionist art.

Good Vienna history of Klimt etc.
Oct 2020 • Solo
This was a good gallery with a couple of floors covering Klimt and the Secessionists of Vienna. The bottom floor was an exhibition of again, local artists, which although wasn’t entirely my taste I can see the relevance and if you are into Viennese art, a good shout.
The shop is good.
There is a cafe.
Then I left the building and walked around the back where there are lifts to the free roof terrace. It was a sunny day, so the bar area was packed, but it was nice for sure.

Not a child friendly museum
Aug 2020 • Family
Beautiful museum with an amazing art collection but the security staff is awful. We were visiting with two children who are 3 and 5 and they followed us everywhere even though the children were not touching anything and were just playing on the benches. We were told to keep holding their hands at all time even though they were never 2 meters away at any given time and we were keeping a very close eye on them. We’ve been to numerous world renown museums with our children in the past and never encountered such a despicable treatment. I wish this place was more children friendly... Sad.
