The pictures won't do this place any justice, you'll have to go and see it for yourself, the architecture is breathtaking. The prices to enter the hall are not cheap for a person especially for the time that you're inside but the hall is magnificent. Enjoy.

Second time visiting after a wonderful first experience. This time there were two groups touring with guides not using a microphone and headsets. This is a LIBRARY - it is supposed to be quiet! Audible tours should not be given in smaller spaces - let alone a library. The exhibits were not as interesting as the first visit, plus many... More

This is how Heaven of bookworms and history lovers looks like, endless bookshelves and beautiful statues. This place is magical, and located in the heart of Vienna hard to miss. It often holds interesting exhibitions, like exposition of Franz Josef's letters or the one dedicated to Maria Theresa.

The grandest library I have ever seen in my life! The murals on the ceiling have great detail in them. I took the audio self guided tour which helped explain what you were seeing. I wouldn't be able to study inside just because of the sheer beauty of it. One of my favorite spots in Vienna and well worth the... More

A friend suggested I see this library at the Imperial Palace. It is also known as, Prunksaal or State Hall. Of all the places we visited, the purchase of tickets was the most disorganized We were second in line for tickets and it still took 20 minutes. The line up went from 2 people to a long line. The cashier... More

What a fantastic place. I loved the history lesson that went with the guided tour and it was such a beautiful and interesting place. I never realised so much of what we have today was initiated way back in the 1700's. This place was 3-400 years ahead of its time and the history is staggering. A must visit if you... More

The library is magnificent. The posters along the sides of the aisle describe artefacts and give historical information in English and German and make the visit worth while

When I saw this library I thought I died and got to Heaven! It was simply incredible! Could easily spend there whole day, just wondering around and staring at the books. Absolutely a must see!

The Library is superb in its visual style from columns to painted ceilings, to Mozarts hand written notes on a musical score. Books and documents hundreds of years old. A highlight of the visit

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
