Kaiserappartments was located near the Spanish Riding School and Sisi Museum. There was a hugh horseman statue in front. Upon entering the museum, you could found beautifully furnished rooms inside and enable you to have a glimpse on the residence of Habsburg's family some 600 years ago and something concerned the unhappy living on the part of Empress Elisabeth/Sisi.

Be brought tickets earlier and planned to head back later in afternoon for this, knowing last entrance was 4:30. Arriving a few minutes before this we waited while the young lady at the front was arguing with a couple on whether they could go in or not (it was too late?). As we already had tickets and would not be... More

The rooms are displayed with original furnishings and it is so interesting to get a glimpse into how the imperial family lived. It is well laid out, very good value for money and an audio guide is included. Highly recommended. The whole area is very historic and goes back 600 years! Also the cafe had lovely coffee and cakes -... More

The tour starts with rooms filled with the fabulous cutlery ,crockery and cooking utensils needed to service the lavish entertaining at the palace and maintain such a large house hold of 5000. Gave an insight into the organisation required and made Downton Abbey look very tiny. Up the stairs to the apartments where we were given a glimpse of the... More

This is a museum in the Hofburg Palace where you can explore the residence of the Habsburgs for some 600 years. The rooms are restored to the way they looked when inhabited by the famous Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisaeth (Sisi). It's part of a series of museums in the palace complex. Recommended. It gets pretty crowded.

The fact that Kaiserappartements is just next to the other historical architecture, it is so easy access and history lovers will truly appreciate the sight.

Part of the Hofburg Palace complex, the entrance is opposite that to the Spanish Riding School just through the arch on Michaelerplatz. Entry is free with a Vienna Pass and also includes an extremely comprehensive audio guide. If you want to know how the Hapsburgs lived in their winter palace, or to learn about the unhappy Empress Elisabeth (Sisi) then... More

The amount of people was crazy, like seriously too much. As a result, they had run out of audio guides, but they charged the full fee even though this. The museum itself is okay, nothing really spectacular, but cueing to be able to walk around the palace is not the best experience. Also, sometimes the corridors are too narrow and... More

Highly interesting to see where an important dynasty lived that influenced European history. Not only the splendor is to be seen, but also the human side of the emperors of the Austrian-Hungarian empire. Highly recommended.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
