All museums in this area were worth seeing for us particularly as we like traditional paintings and some modern art.

What a wonderful job they have done combining numerous museums in one location. Anchored by the Leopold on one end and MUMOK on the other there are cafes, public spaces, a kid's museum and contemporary art spaces. A beautiful gathering place and great place to spend a whole day!

Lots to do and see in the Museums Quarter and so easy to get to as well. Allow more time if you want to visit any of the museums.

MuseumsQuartier shuts out the city from the city. When you enter the courtyards of MuseumsQuartier and hang out on one of the Enzis (specially designed hallmark benches) you're on holiday and everyday stress falls off immediately!

Staying in Neubau

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
