Cool Neo-Gothic style building one of the most important landmarks in Vienna. The building's architecture really impressed us! Definitely a must visit when in Vienna especially during christmas!

Very beautiful place, especially in the winter season, when the Christmas market is open. Really nice.

This building is one of our favorites in Vienna. At Christmas/New Year's time it is even more amazing with the lights, Christmas market and ice skating rink. We enjoyed New Year's eve in the plaza with the music and fireworks, and of course the Blue Danube played at midnight, when surrounding groups of people started to waltz. We had visited... More

Wow! What a stunning building. Absolutely, breath taking to see at night when it is lit up. The Christmas fair is wonderful with live music. Superb food and mulled wine and beer. Very festive place to be in December. Loved it, would recommend for anyone seeking a romantic break. Make it your next trip.

The setting of this Christmas market was beautiful with the Rathausplatz as the backdrop of the market. After visiting other markets in Germany and Austria, this was by far our favorite. It was easy to access from out hotel with the trolly. It was busy yet did not feel overly crowded. It felt the most like Christmas.

It remember London parliament and Big Ben (sorry for the British guys), but what I'm trying to explain is that this city hall is simply amazing like the buildings from London. The architecture is simply amazing and looks like the ones from UK. During December they have a huge and marvelous market.

Great atmosphere, fantastic setting, delicious gluhwein and hot chocolate and GREAT ice-skating next to market. It was the largest and most impressive one. You can borrow the skates there. It is especially nice in the evening when the lights are turned on.

A wide area just in front of the city hall. It is used for attractions, expositions and open air concerts in summer time. But, it s also worth to visit this place during Christmas. The stalls selling nice gift objects, foods and beverages are amazing. There is also a big ice skating rink for fun. Don't miss to taste delicious... More

Rathaus is a must to visit during any time of the year, but it especially during the Christmas market in December. It is so nicely decorated and there are a lot of huts selling all kinds of things. There was also a big ice skating rink and you can borrow the skates there. It is especially nice in the evening... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
