Unfortunately we were a little overwhelmed with all that there was to see in Vienna and almost missed this museum. We had only about an hour to go through the whole museum, and it definitely was not enough time. This was such an interesting museum and so many beautiful things to look at. Of all the museums, this is a... More

Beautiful collection and you can learn so much about history. Lovely location in the hearth of the Hofburg makes you understand how the system of the palace was working.

We made a spur of the moment decision to visit this museum while walking around the city and were very glad we did, the jewels are stunning and there are lots of fascinating pieces throughout the museum, well worth the entrance fee.

The clothes, the jewels, the furnishings. The way these people lived, the history that these artifacts bring to life is incredible. Beautiful things made by craftspersons over a thousand years ago.

An excellent museum of treasures including ceremonial robes, badges of office, crowns and swords all lavishly decorated. A must do place in Vienna. Worth the extra few euros to have a guide as there knowledge really is worth it. Easy access and free with Vienna pass.

Gold, silver and precious stones made into dazzling crowns, necklaces and swords. Embroidered royal attire and beautiful paintings. All these represent the days of emperors and family living lavishly. We were glad to get a glimpse into that era. Museum is organized so that the visitor can see all the exhibits.

Easy to find and close to center and other museums. Worth the money. History lovers must visit this museums. My advice inform yourself better before visit, or do it with touristic guide. Some of the artifacts were written and explained only on German. Home of the grail that is believed to be the Holy Grail, the Crown and lot's of... More

From the moment you walk in, you're so far "back in time" it's completely fascinating. The religious artifacts include a piece of Christ's loin cloth and a piece of the table cloth from the last supper. There are pieces of the cross, and allegedly the nail that pierced Christ's right hand. Amazing.

We actually did not plan to go here and just happened to be walking by when we decided to go in and I'm so happy we did! They have a beautiful collection of old fabrics, jewels, weapons and other old relics. Very interesting to see how royalty in Austria crafted these items. One of my favorite attractions in Vienna!

Beautiful jewels and amazing history. The audio guide is essential. However, there is no way to look and listen to every piece without being overwhelmed. Look at the website, figure out what you really want to focus on and go see that. There are so many artifact of the church in addition to the crown jewels. Spent 4 hours there... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
