A fantastic collection that showcases the Habsburg dynasty jewels. Highlights include Charlemagne's crown, the Spear of Destiny, Piece of the Cross, and Napoleon's baptistery. This requires about two hours minimum to truly enjoy the full collection. Relax and enjoy. Tip: if you're in Vienna in the heat of the summer, visit this at the beginning of the day. You'll miss... We saw this exhibition as part of our Vienna pass and were over awed at the treasures contained in the imperial Treasury. Well worth the visit.

To see treasure dating back centuries, not only here but all over Europe, is incredible! How wealthy and proud people were of their heritage and how these things are so well preserved....I often stand and wonder when you look at it all..."Who wore this or that last?" Amazing!

The Imperial Treasury at the Hofburg Palace contains a valuable collection of treasures covering over a thousand years of European history. The entrance is at the Schweizerhof, the oldest part of the palace. It contains the Imperial Crown, Orb and Sceptre of Austria and the Imperial Regalia of the Emperors and Kings of the Holy Roman Empire. A very beautiful... More

Compared to the treasures you may see in England or France -the Hofburg Treasury I think is the most impressive I have seen. Beautiful collection of some of the world's most impressive treasures.

The Imperial Treasury shows how rich the Hofburg Empire was in its day and at times when you tour this museum, you can't believe how rich they were in comparison to those that they ruled. The jewelry, robes and other gems just takes your breath away. A must see if you want to see how the Hofburgs lived with their... More

Maybe I misunderstood what the collection was about. I thought I would see Imperial jewels, crowns, earrings, bracelets belonging to the Emperor, his wife etc. This was a small collection of coronation jewels, swords and lots of coronation robes. it was interesting to see midevel robes but not what I was hoping to see.

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
