The very center of the city with beautiful streets to walk and maybe do a little shopping. If u wanna go and do some serious shopping. Go outside the city to SCS mall. There is a free bus/shuttle from Siebenhirten (brown metro line).

Fabulous-the centre of all the activity. The cathedral is a must-explore the crypt underneath. Lots of streets leading off it filled with lovely restaurants and coffee shops.

An enormous amount of luxury shops surround the Stephansplatz and the adjacent streets. During our visit there was also a big Weihnachtsmarkt around the cathedral.

Advent is beautiful at Stephansplatz. Many people, carriages near the Stephansdom (the cathedral), decorations of the street - you simply fall in love with Vienna

Lots going on here to see, do, walk around, eat, shop, get some exercise and people watch. Vienna is a pedestrian city for the most part and this is an area central to the walking Viennese. Enjoy this area as relatively safe from crime and vagrants. the Doctor hit me with a helpful vote!

This is more or less the end of a very impressive high street, St Stephens Cathedral and The Vienna Time Travel Tour are not far away, When we went at the end of November there were a number of Christmas Market stalls selling the usual jewellery, olive wood carvings and other arts and crafts. You will be approached by sellers... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
