We bicycled from Passau to Budapest in early May, enjoying a fabulous mix of rural and urban experiences. You can choose the stretches which are most interesting to you, using the trains to make connections (or paying for a self-guided trip supported by a bike-and-barge company, eg Rad & Reisen), but be sure to ride from Vac to Esztergom! This... More

For almost every inch of pedestrianised area in the city and surrounds there is an equivalent dedicated space for bikes and boy is it used. essentially in Vienna the dedicated bike lanes are so well marked that they are regularly used and so some riders really do crack on - so BEWARE !! Vienna was made for bikes basically as... More

My husband and I just completed a six day seven night bike ride down the Danube Classic Bike Path. We started in Passau, Germany and 221 miles later arrived in Vienna, Austria. Pros: amazing scenery, flat trail (a lot of down hill), great rental bikes with top notch bags and locks, cool hotels along the way, wonderful variety of towns... More

What a great trip. Easy riding biking community at the end all felt like friends. Leisurely riding if you want, Beautiful country in the Wachau Valley very beautiful. Although we chose to be self guided. We did hire Ran & Reisen as our support system. Julia was our tour operator. The great support included getting all of our accommodations, Luggage... More

We cycled from Passau to Vienna over six days using DanubeCycles to make all the arrangements. We were totally disappointed by the performance of DanubeCycles on our self guided cycle tour. Our complaints centre around the failure of DanubeCycles to design our tour to meet their own stipulated criteria. We selected The Classic Tour Category A with its range of... More

We cycled the Donauradweg Passau to just outside Vienna (Tulln).Late August into September, 6 days in the saddle was well worth it. Some of the scenery along the way is breathtaking. The weather was glorious, too hot at times. We booked through Hooked on Cycling in the UK. Bikes and accommodation is provided, and your luggage is moved for you.... More

I heard about this area from s few people and cool websites. But, going thru it is a while different ball game. One of the best (if not the best) cycling routes i've tried. Great scenery, great food, great people and an experience that it is very hard to match. Strongly strongly strongly recommended. We went unplanned. I just booked... More

Just back from this fantastic 7-day bike and barge trip. I booked with Rad+Reisen and they were excellent from start to finish. The ship "My Story" was comfortable - small rooms but spotless and functional. Surprisingly good food on board. Best part about the ship is the relaxed and friendly crew. And floating past castles and story-book villages for a... More

We cycled the stretch from Vienna to Budapest in the first week of August, cycling to Bratislava, Gyor, Mosonmagyarovar, Komarno, Visegrad and Budapest in day trips of 50-80km. In general we liked the trip. If you're interested in the trip, get yourself a booklet from Bikeline. It will present you with maps for the journey and clearly show you the... More

Cycled the Passau to Vienna leg in four days and what an amazing trip! Went with Fahradd Klinik out of Passau and their service was first rate. Bike was in excellent condition and was ready for me the day prior to departure so I could be packed and ready the day of departure. This leg entails days of between 75... More
