Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The CAT, which is often advertised intrusively in the landing AUA plane or in the airport bus, is completely overpriced.
The REX 7 only takes 4 minutes longer to get to the city (same station) and the S7 6 minutes longer, and all for only €4.40. However, this price already includes the ticket for Vienna. It's only really worth it if you want to use the City Check-in.

This is a fantastic service from airport to city centre. we had pre-bought our e-tickets on the Vienna City Card app (they were inspected on each journey). The train is modern, light and airy, plenty of room for luggage, clean, overall a delight and great first impression of the city

The train is fast and clean. It has continuous routes every 30 minutes. It may be more expensive than the regular but it provides a waiting area with sofas and is generally comfortable. It also has free luggage storage if you have several hours until you go to the airport and want to take a walk.

We arrived in Vienna on 29/07 at night and wanted to use the transfer from the airport to the city center (included in our Vienna city cards). Before taking the train, we showed them to a CAT member at the airport and he told us "It'd be ok for us to take the CAT train as the transfer from the airport was included in our Vienna city cards". We then took it.

However, when the train arrived at its terminus (Vienna city center), a CAT ticket inspector entered our wagon and scanned our Vienna city cards. Result: our card code bars were not recognized by his scanner. Although we tried to explain to him multiple times that we paid for this transfer (we also showed him the voucher for this), he didn't want to listen to any explanation that we gave him and made us pay again for the transfer from the airport ... What a good way to start our Vienna trip.

I think that you should rethink the way you choose your ticket inspectors. Intelligent people and good listeners would be welcomed.

Thankfully, the Vienna city card assistance center told us that it was a mistake on their part and that we would be refunded from CAT, which just happened some hours ago.

Vienna, a wonderful, imperial city and at the same time incredibly friendly to tourists! The timing of the city's public transport is perfect. Because of the accuracy of bottled water, there are columns everywhere in the city that you can fill your bottle and at the same time cool yourself with the spraying chills. The cruise to the Danube rewards your expectations. The Sacherthe, their sweet, delicious. It is worth visiting!!!

Fast as anything to get you from the city centre to the airport. Clean, efficient trains every 15 minutes. Puts other cities transport to shame.

One thing. It claims you can check in your bags in Vienna, so you can travel hassle free. This is true but only for certain airlines. We travelled with BA and were stuck with our bags for hours.

This is the fastest way to reach directly to the city center from Vienna airport. It can be a bit costy but it is fast and comfortable and the scenery is great. When you get off the train, you literally in the middle of the downtown area. Recommended

We used the CAT to return to the airport and it was a great experience. Makes you jealous how nice and efficient these trains are compared to back home. The seats were immaculate, clean and you can tell things are well looked after.

Every half hour there is an OBB RailJet train (very modern and clean) to Vienna Hbf (main station) and further (to Salzburg or Graz). It departs from Platform 2.
The price for CAT is € 11 single or € 19 return - very expensive!!!
But the price for normal train is only € 3.90 and you can use that ticket from Hbf anywhere in Vienna (by metro, trams, buses or regional trains). It takes only 15 mins from Airport to Hbf (main station).
And if you have 24-hours / 48-hours / 72 hours or week ticket in Vienna, you need to buy only the additional ticket from Airport to Schwechat (only € 1.70)

If you arrive, jet lagged and excited, and choose the slower train from the airport to downtown to save money - BE ADVISED - each ticket must be "validated" using machines near the tracks which are orange and about 12"x6"x6". It is very easy, given the German text to completely miss this step.

When you do, as we did, train police will take your non-validated tickets at no credit, and charge 100 Euro CASH each for a ride from the main station to the airport. They will also take your passports, and surround you like criminals, with extra officials, as though you are going to run away without your passports, and require you to withdraw 100 Euro per person. They will say "I don't make the law, I just enforce it" with a smile.

Unlike modern train systems which process electronic tickets, this paper system is set up to trap you. Pay 3 times as much, and take the express train, where a young person cheerfully will guide you thru the ticketing and boarding process.

It has been more than a month, and we remain thoroughly disgusted at our treatment by this organization. 100 Euro for a 3.90 Euro ticket not being validated.

Like Charon, the boatman on the River Styx, these people are stuck in their jobs, and take pride in discomfiting unwary travelers.

There is no rebate or credit for having bought the ticket in good faith.

There are many great and wonderful people to meet in Vienna and Austria. There are also uncaring bureaucrats stuck in mindless jobs extorting incredible charges for a mistake.

Be advised, avoid, and enjoy your travels.
