December is the darkest month, so around Christmas time we only have around 2 hours of any kind of daytime. Pretty much completely dark besides that. The actual temperatures during the Northern Lights tour in December vary a lot - might be plus degrees around coastal areas, but might be -35 degrees, if we need to drive to Finland for clear skies.
If Northern Lights is your main priority, I would recommend March or October, as it tends to be much more active in terms of Auroras. March, if you like snow, October if you prefer to have milder temperatures. December might be ok as well, but also we might experience weak Northern Lights sometimes even for a week or so.
Happy to have more questions if you have any.
