Cable cars

Took the cable car trip, great views but very chilly. Snow storm developed whilst we were having a coffee and a cake in the warm cafe. Well Worth a visit.

We went on a clear day and had great views of Tromso and the mountains. Give yourself enough time if you want to explore. There is a viewing platform but you can walk the whole moutain to the peak. Take plenty if pictures...you can see the weather coming across and great views of the bridge and town. . Warm up... More

If you go in winter time, it is freezing cold so wear good clothing on top. Excellent views! But spending an hour on top was really enough, and that includes a hot drink in the charming cafeteria.

Went with the cable car in the beginning of January. The ride is pretty expensive and very short and there is nothing much to see or do at the top. Would not recommend going up if it is cloudy as you will probably not be able to see anything at all in this case.

Walk over the bridge and follow the signs. Stop at supermarket for a coffee. On the way back work out a quicker route! Maybe via the Arctic cathedral? Not cheap. Phenomenal views. and space to wander at the top.Nearly always snowy in winter; we timed it to come down as Tromso lights were going on - magical. Cafe / restaurant... More

We walked over the bridge from the city to the gondola and back and it was a great day. The gondola is run every 30 min very efficiently and in less than 4 minutes you are on top of the mountain looking down at beautiful Tromso. The view is absolutely spectacular and the walk higher up the mountain well worth... More

We were delayed going up the cable car because the staff were doing emergency training which was fine. Up the top we couldn't see anything because of the fog but that cleared in the time we were up there and the view was absolutely breathtaking!! The restaurant at the top was not very good. Over-priced and did not have good... More

Even with cloudy weather, this was an enjoyable experience. Bus 26 from the city centre takes you directly to the base of the cable car, and the ride to the top lasts around 5 minutes. There is a restaurant/cafe at the peak of the mountain, but this is quite expensive. The viewing platform is an awesome vantage point to view... More

Easy to reach by bus, we were so lucky that the Aurora Belt was going to be strong that night and there was not a single cloud in the horizon, perfect place for aurora watching. I really enjoyed it

We went up the cable car a bit sad that the weather seemed so bad, but we went through the cloud, and anyway it blew over quickly. The views down to the city from the top were amazing, and it felt as though the sun was about to come up at the summit. We had fun playing in the fields... More
