About Tromso Friluftsenter
North on the whale island 40 minutes drive threw amazing coastal scenery you will find the most charming place called Risvika. This is our homeplace, and for generations my family have lived by farming and fishing here on the coast. Threw times things have changed, and now the farm has no animals any more. One day my father sat under the magic of the the northern lights when he descided to share with people the amazing gift of nature.. Since 2004 we have had the pleasure to welcome guests from around the world into our hearts and home. Our speciality is the Small groups, the local guides from our area, and the family that gives the real authentic north Norwegian charm that makes our guests come back. Join us when we go chasing the northern lights, or go on the amazing whale safari. Let yourself be taken away with the fun stories, the wormth from the bonfire, the elements of nature and the memory that last for a lifetime.. Hope to be there and share the gift of natur with you!

A fabulous trip with a great guide. Trine was really friendly and knowledgeable throughout. Hot drinks, 'homemade cake' and a firepit to keep us warm...and the added bonus of ticking off an unexpected bucket list item (driving around the most northerly roundabout in a tunnel!!!) We managed to see the lights and got to keep the great photos Trine took. I would definitely recommend this company.

To see the northern lights can be disappointed if your guide is not good or is very cloudy. I have the most fantastic experience with Friluftsenter in Tromso. Knut, my guide, was a terrific guide, he knows exactly were to bring you so you can see the northers lights. He is also a very good photographer and teacher, because to take the pictures you need help. It was very cold at night, but the cabin he got for us, the fire place, the hot chocolate and marshmellows make an unbelieveble exprience. I recomend eyes shut this tour.

We had an amazing time and were looked after brilliantly by Knut. He helped us with our camera settings, kept us warm in their Lavvu and we had a great night. We saw thousands of stars and the Northern Lights were bright and active. The trip had been moved from Thursday to Friday as the weather had been bad, they were both friendly and accommodating. We all enjoyed the hot drinks and 'home made' cake with plenty of laughs with Knut.
