We spent a couple of hours in Polaria to fill some free time while in Tromsø, it is relatively inexpensive but worth a visit to get an insight into he arctic wildlife around costal Norway. There is range of displays, including an aquarium and a panoramic cinema which has some short but informative films which add to the experience, the... More

We visited the building as we had seen it in the Architectural magazines, it looks a lot more exciting in the photos than in reality but having said that the aquarium experience was good, with lots of ways to view the Seals from above and underneath.

Impressive building but not a great deal going on. Some bits were very informative. Would be good value for money if half the price, or twice the size. Not many animals, and if you are an animal lover you probably won't like the seal enclosure.

There are films to view which are very interesting. One in particular was about Svalbard and the polar bears and there was an exhibition about Svalbard in a separate area too. The seal pool was amazing which ws on 2 storeys so thet you could walk through a tunnel and have the seals swim above you. They are very playful... More

But there's not much on offer at Polaris. The day we went they were cleaning out the seal pool so we didn't get to see them swimming around. Limited number of exhibitions. Large gift shop and a cafe upstairs. Having said that, if it's pouring with rain and you've nothing better to do it'll fill an hour

Small aquarium with a few tanks, including a small touch tank. Bit draw is the seals but the big tank isn't very clean and there are 3 seals which swim back and forth. Doesn't look nearly as nice as in the photos but not bad for a an hour.

It's a beautiful place to take your child. There is a lot of aquariums to see, with a good variety of animals. I recommend if you have time.

There are 4 poor seals living there for all their life. Sad. The films were an overview on Svalbard and Northern Lights.

We visited this aquarium with friends. It was very small. Just a few sea critters in exhibits. The short film was interesting on the northern lights. The gift shop has some nice things in it. You can see everything in an hour.
