Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

In the grand square an interesting sculpture sits in a fountain, which incidentally was quiet.

Inspired by a legend that after the 1624 fire the King pointed his finger on a map to the place where he ordered the new city be built.

It’s a great story and the sculpture lives up to it.

The Norwegian artist Wenche Gulbrandsen created it and it was inaugurated in 1973

This fountain-monument is situated in the middle of the Christiania square. People also call this square as Hansketorget (The Glove Square).

Christian IV (1577-1648) was the king of Denmark-Norway. There was a big town fire in 1624 and the king decided to rebuild the town in this area. He pointed with his gloved hand to this spot.

The monument was completed in 1973. There are some restaurant-bars around the square.

We enjoyed this historic square in the center of 17th century Oslo as built by the Danes. There are many old buildings in the area dating from this time and a short walk to Akershus Fortress. In the middle of the square is the impressive The Glove fountain with a sculpture of Christian IV’s gloved hand pointing to where the new town of Oslo would be built. We also enjoyed lunch on the patio of the nearby Cafe Skansen.

One of the more special and interesting sculptures in the city. Located in the center city areas at the base of the shopping area and pedestrian street near restaurants and other city attractions. Great for photo opportunities. This a primary
landmark and meeting place in the city. One of the most unique pieces of art sculpture in Oslo. The work of the artist is unique and gives a precise message for the city. Worth a visit.

Several museums are around this area. If you go to see this statue, you will have a hard time seeing it up close since it is in the center of a round about.

Nice sculpture in the center of a public square. Place is surrounded by restaurants and pubs.

It’s worth a brief visit but not a destination location.

This historic square or nowadays a roundabout is located in Rådhusgata in Oslo's old city center.

Some of Oslo's oldest buildings are found around this square. There is also a fountain, with a sculpture of a hand pointing to the ground.

Stroll through this most picturesque square to see the fountain/sculpture of King Christian IV's hand as he pointed to this spot as the center of the modern city of Oslo, after the old, wooden city was decided to be improved upon. You will find one of the oldest structures in Oslo here, a yellow building that used to house the executioner (the facade is currently covered as it is under renovation). There are charming cafes to enjoy here. It's a must when in Oslo.
