Beautiful Exhibition Space
Mar 2020 • Solo
This is one of very few excellent buildings in Oslo. It’s great architecture, great conditions, genuine ambience and inspiring gallery spaces.
The current exhibition - spring 2020 - is absolutely beautiful. And they also have a cinema downstairs with and active program.
They even have a reading lounge upstairs, a workshop for kids in the mezzanine, and a bookstore by the entrance. Get inspired!
Look out for an excuse to visit this gem of a building!

An artistic cooperative for contemporary arts
Jul 2019
Housed in a modern, utilitarian building, this is a very good collection of contemporary art, and the place is owned and run by the artists. The exhibits change frequently, so go back, even if you've visited in the past. It has a very good cafe, place for kids to be entertained, a book shop, movie theater and a restaurant with outdoor seating overlooking the Royal gardens. It is open all week, except Mondays. Opening hours are longer on Thursdays.

Great Exhibition space upstairs
Jan 2018 • Business
This is one of the greatest buildings in Oslo, if you ask me. Lovely architecture, tall ceilings, original building materials from the thirties and bespoke exhibition spaces with skylit galleries upstairs. Perfect place to see art.
I came for an amazing exhibition by Vanessa Baird. She had covered the walls with detailed paintings. It was totally overwhelming to see the gallery rooms this way.
Well done.
It’s possible to stop by in the foyer cafe and restaurant for food and drinks. But it’s worth just coming for the art in this specially made exhibition space!

Great art
Jan 2018 • Business
This contemporary art house has big sketches hanging. In beautiful pastel colours. At first the scenes look tranquil in a way but looking a bit closer quite the opposite. Very interesting! Also video art and landscape art. I like the spaces and how the art is displayed.

Awesome pizza, relaxed place
Jun 2017 • Couples
Kunstnerner hus (or to be more precise; restaurant Lofthus Samvirkelag which is located in the same premises) offers culture experience in the form of art exhibitions, and also some of the best pizzas in town.

The pizzas here are fantastic; I love especially the pizzas with truffle salami and reindeer. There is a good selection of wines, however this is not a place for fine dining or for those who expect 5-star service. The atmosphere is relaxed, the prices are very reasonable (for Norway!) and you should adjust your expectations accordingly. This is not a place you'll see advertised all over, but is hands down way better than any chain places such as TGI's.

Hot tip: Skip the restaurant chain places on Karl Johans Gate and go to Kunstnernes Hus to taste some of the best pizzas in town.

Fantastic place, great pizza!
Jan 2017 • Couples
If you are hungry or/and have a taste for art this is the place for you.
Kunstnernes Hus have a really good and surprisingly cheap restaurant that makes what could be regarded as some of Oslos best pizza, and certainly reasonable prices!

The staff is exceptionally welcoming and helpful.

Take a tour around the art-exhibition and get inspired! If you are in town for the famous "høstutstillingen" (autumn exhibition) you have really struck gold.

And did i mention that they have the most impressive HIFI-system you can get your hands on?

Important
Feb 2015 • Couples
The Artist's House is one of Oslo's most important exhibition halls for international and Norwegian contemporary art.

The present exhibition, "The Shadow of War: Political Art in Norway 1914–2014", touched me deeply.

The exhibition lasts until late in March 2015.

The next exhibition, 24th of April - 14th of June 2015, is a memorial exhibition featuring the works of the Norwegian artist photographer Tom Sandberg (1953 – 2014).
