About
Kirkelig Kulturverksted (KKV) has worked since 1986 to establish a scene for music, drama and pictorial art in Jakob's Church. Today, the church appears as a unique stage with no parallel in Oslo. The only true cultural church in Norway. Here you will find theatre performances, art exhibitions, concerts and special events.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We first saw it as the sun set and it was aglow with the golden light. A lovely sight.

It’s an impressive edifice in complete red brick. A fine bell tower soars skywards.

Completed in 1880, for 105 years it served as a pariah church. But with a declining congregation it closed in 1985.

However, after restoration, it arose anew in 2000 as a Cultural Centre hosting performances of plays, dance and more.

Interestingly it has apparently retained its status as a place of worship with a Sunday evening mass still celebrated.

We saw Jake Bugg there earlier this year. The acoustics are perfect. I would definately go again if the artist was right for this setting.....

Excellent location for your next work-party / Reception / get-together / Party. Went here for a large meeting & dinnerparty for about 300 persons. The Church in itself is outstanding and almost gives you a magic feeling. But wait until the evening when the chuch is transformed to a nice and warm venue for your dinner arrangements. The lights, the sounds, the great feeling of being someplace special - is just a few things to experience in Jakobkirken.

It’s really wonderful. It was closed at the time I went, but still magnificent. I think everyone that comes to Oslo should visit.

Went to see Marit Larsen last Sept 24. The place is truly magical. Adds wonder and mystery to the songs being performed. The church is designed beautifully as well. They also have a mini bar at the entrance. Great place to see a performance.
