The city of Oslo have done a fantastic job with aker brygee. Very pleasant atmosphere and the type of place you could spend the afternoon relaxing at, especially when the sun comes out.

This is the night life zone of oslo. A lots of restaurants and bars with great food and beverage. You can buy a beer and sit in front of the marine watching all the boats. Great view

Akke Brigge is the area. So yes it's open on weekends :) You should be able to access the area around the sea (pier, boats, little dammed off water area). The shops definitely on Saturday. It will be busy with the hustle... More

I agree with NikonGlass. It's an easy walk or you can take the tram. Buy tickets for the tram from the kiosk at the station.
