It's a nice cathedral but nothing special. If you happen to pass the cathedral have a look but I wouldn't visit if you aren't near it. The best part is the beautifully painted ceiling.

Oslo is the capital of Norway, yet its relatively a small city, the Oslo Cathedral is small as well. It compares more to a beautiful church. The windows, woodwork and ceilings are beautiful. Weddings are really big in the summer, yet a couple was here to practice for one this week. To get here I passed the Royal Palace, I... More

Smaller in nature compared to others in Europe for sure but offers beautiful ceiling artwork and a of course a beautiful religious feeling that is calm and connects you with a higher power.

It was ok but looks like more a church than a cathedral. As Oslo is a small city, I recommend it especially if you stay several days in Oslo downtown.

This is a busy place. When we stopped, a wedding was just finishing. When the wedding party left another group arrived to practice for a later performance. So we were able to sit in this beautiful church and listen to music. A great way to rest our feet.

Nice church, not a must see. Lovely paintings on the ceiling, unfortunately poorly maintained. The outside has been renovated. Nice for a quiet stop when shopping.

We attended Dec. 24, 2016 service with Oslo Boys Choir singing Lessons and Carols Christmas Eve Service and Dec. 25, 2016 High Mass (in Norwegian) with organ prelude and postlude (J.S.Bach) and brass trio. Both services were beautiful and well-attended. It was good to arrive early (up to 1 hour) as the church filled quickly.

A simple cathedral with little, but entrancing decoration. Worth popping in, but not making a special journey to do so.

Happened to walk in while they were tuning the piano (it was stated as organ tuning but nah, it's just the grand piano). The interior of the cathedral is simply splendid and very serene. Many tourists just come in to soak in the serenity as they sit at the altars and say a prayer or two. There are candles that... More

I attended the morning service on the first Sunday in advent and although it was in Norwegian it was easy to follow as everything was in a leaflet provided. The choir was beautiful as were the lights and it was even heated. All of the senior roles in the service were delivered by women. As a bonus many people young... More
