It is easy to just walk past a monument like this - but take a closer look, that is the head of the old chief. This monument is to the first King Olav who established the trading colony here and took control from the pagan/tribal...More

The statue by sculptor Wilhelm Rasmussen honors King Olav Tryggvason who was the city's founder. The statue is 18-metre tall is mounted on top of an obelisk. It was unveiled in 1921. It was interesting to see local firefighters, not 100% if they were, taking...More

I was a bit disappointed when we came to the square as most of its historic buildings have disappeared, only to be replaced by 70's grey buildings containing McDonalds and Burger Kings. The Olav Tryggvason Monument is impressive but that's the only impressive thing about...More

The square is very impressive, and the obelisk at its centre is at the fulcrum of the axes that are the roads leading from the Square. "All roads lead to Olav".

You can find it from different parts of Trondheim, just walk around and look for it. Although the post is mostly a landmark, sorrounded by shops than an attraction by itself.

This monument is located in the city center. Trondheim is an easy city to walk around. This monument is a landmark.

This is an obvious landmark down town, so a good place to specify when meeting up with someone down town. The monument is nice, worth strolling by to take a look and snap a photo.

Very funny that when I went to visit, they had put a red scarf on the statue. The statue is always decorated in different ways depending on the season.

If you go to Trondheim, you need to see the OTM. It's that simple. You don't have to go out of your way, it's right there. It's part of your visit.
