The Floibanen funicular in Bergen is one of Norway's best-known attractions. Floibanen can be found in the heart of Bergen, 150 m from Fisketorget - the fish market - and Bryggen wharf, and it takes just 10 minutes to walk to the lower station from where the cruise ships dock along Bryggen. The journey up to Floyen (320 m above sea level) takes 5-8 minutes. The journey is an experience in itself, and at the top you can enjoy fantastic views over Bergen. Check out the view right now from our webcam of Bergen seen from Floyen.

There are endless opportunities for walks on Floyen, and you will also find a cafe, restaurant and children's playground. The funicular runs daily all year round from early morning to late evening (check our departure times).

The railway is very busy and worth going on, particularly if the day is fine and if the number of tourists is not large. As we went up in steady rain, which persisted at the top we returned immediately, after taking a few photos. Going to the gift shop/cafe didn't appeal because of the large number of people. Otherwise, I... More

This is absolutely worth the fee for the amazing views! The quick trip up greeted us with a spectacular sunset view of the surrounding area. Without doubt, this is one of the nicest city views I have ever seen - right up there with Queenstown. Do not hesitate to spend some time up here when in Bergen.

Great view of the city (especially at dark time, when city lights are on). You can easily reach the top by funicular for 5 minutes, or have a nice walk (through the forest and cute houses of locals) for about an hour.

The Funicular ride takes you up this Mountain. From here you get a panaromic 360 view of city, sea, bay , ships etc . There is also interesting walks into the woods further away from Tourist stop. Quite interesting colorful wooden figures are placed along the walk areas. A coffee stop awaits at the Tourist stop where funicular ends

Visiting Mount Floyen via the cable car is an unforgettable experience. Would seriously recommend catching the cable car up, and then walking down the mountain. In fact, we enjoyed the walk down more! Great experience, great views.

We had some great views and photos up on Mount Floyen although the weather was mixed during our time there. Taking the Floibanen was good as all sides of the train have large windows so you get great views going up the mountain. The restaurant/cafe at the top is okay, if a bit average/expensive. We enjoyed our walk down as... More

Fløyen gives a fantastic view of Bergen, and if you don't want to hike up the mountain the Funicular is the best way to get up. You might have to wait if you come in peak season in the middle of the day, but otherwise it's quite fast getting through. When you're up at Mount Fløyen you can enjoy the... More
