The climb up the 418 steps is not difficult, given the number of places to stop along the way if you need them. Seeing the area from the top is definitely worth the time, and the climb lets you have an active adventure in Alesund...More

First of all, besides 600 steps up you can drive to the viewpoint. There is a sign informing that costs 10 nok to enter the place, but we decide to have some coffee and tea so we were not charged even for using the toilets.

We drove to the top of the Fjellstua viewpoint on a quiet day. The view is spectacular, and there is a café with panoramic windows along with restrooms and multiple viewing platforms outside. Great place to gain perspective on Alesund and surrounding islands.

A long way to climb up and lots of steps but worth the views when you do get there. Great place to look down on Alesund and see the layout of the Islands.

Not to my knowledge or observation. We travelled up by bus. You should be aware though that there is very limited parking space up there and the street is rather narrow. It's for sure easier to leave the car downtown and use... More

Doubt the land train runs in the evening - you could get hold of the Tourist Information Office or your hotel reception and ask if anything can be arranged. Simplest may be to book a couple of minibuses.

When you get off the ship, there is a kiosk that sells tickets to a train (actually train cars on wheels that goes along the streets) that is 70 minute tour of Alesund and will take you to the top to Fjelstua. They run... More
