The ferrycompany Norled sucks from the letters A to the end letter Z on the ferryconnections on the Ullsfjord and on the Lyngenfjord!

Today for instance they have told me that they have another ferry on the Ullsfjord than the ordinary, also that there is a 15 minutes delay, then last but not least that they will cancel two of the departures due to techinal problems.

This is a top of all the iceberg`s that they have given the people wanting to use these two ferryconnections in order to go from Tromsoe and north or the other way round!

From the time that they took over and squeezed out the local ferrycompany, they have had so many problems that the locals didn`t have ever!!

* They cancel departures when it`s "bad" weather and good weather
* when there are one person sick they don`t have anyone else to put in that job, so they cancel all the departures for one day or more if neccessary
* all of a sudden the motor of the Ullsfjord ferry stops so you have to be on that ferry until help comes from Stavanger and that might take some time
* sometimes you have to drive backwards in order to come on or off the ferries
* they have an information on the speaker that has a not understandable dialect, that is not good on an emergency
*only on the Lyngenferry you get the information in English
* the ferries are old and has been going on 15-minutes schedules in the southwestern part of Norway, so the cafè`s are placed in a long tube besides the cardeck if there are a cafè at all

I`m sick and tired

To start, I'd like to note that I am an experienced cruiser that has booked several excursions with 3rd parties (i.e. not the cruise ship). I try to do as much research as I can to determine what excursions to do and who to do it with.

Reviews seemed mixed for Norled (there were not many recent TA reviews at that time) but the time and cost were acceptable in my mind so I went ahead and booked them.

Booked Lysefjord and Pulpit Rock Cruisetour as an excursion in Stavanger for wife and kids cruising on P&O Iona. I was unfortunatly unable to make the cruise and was in Canada

Booking on the website was easy and we got the ticket/receipt fairly promptly. Departure point on the ticket said Strandkaien Starvenger, which is a fairly large area but given that there would be others taking this trip, we figured that this would not be a problem finding the ship.

The day before the Cruisetour I got an email indicating that the Norled ship was having technical issues and the trip was canceled (see attached screenshot). I was given the option of transferring the ticket to another company or getting a refund.

After conferring with my wife over WhatsApp, I emailed back indicating that the transfer was acceptable. However, the email bounced back to me, indicating that the message was blocked (see attached screenshot). My sister in law, who was also on the cruise, received a similar message. Subsequent attempts were also bounced. I then submitted a ticket through the website, but have yet to hear back.

My wife and her sister attempted to call the next day, however the call centre did not open until 60 minutes after the listed time, and after that wait, they were told which ship/company to go to. But by the time they got to the ship, that tour was sold out and their tickets could not be honoured.

It's at this point that they attempted to contact the call centre to request a refund for services not rendered, but they were unable to get through. I added on to my initial ticket requesting the refund, and still have not heard back. So not only was the day ruined for my wife and kids, but we are out quite a bit of money as well.

For anyone looking to book Norled, I hope that my family's experience helps inform you on which excursion company to go with in Stavanger.

To Norled, I hope that you improve your customer service, as bounced emails and an unresponsive call centre are completely unacceptable for a company that focuses on tourism.

It was a good weather when we had the tour. It was precise time and less crowd. The tour took about 2,5 hrs and we were satisfied.

Booked our Ffords Cruise with this company through the through the coordination of Stavanger Tourist Information Office. We were looking forward for a magnificent fford cruise experience, but only to be ruined by their lack of proper handling of bookings and inability to communicate the issue with us. Booked for 41 people, for 12:15 departure, which they said they would be able to accommodate. Queued early such that only 10 people were in front of us. Then these female steward approach our group and told us to move to the other side of the line, with NO explanation at all. Then she let the other people, who probably bought tickets after us, go through first. When we asked her why she didn't let us through yet, she just waived us of and said "just wait". So we tried waiting while trying to understand and trying to control our temper. Then once the rest of the queue was finished then inky that time did she turn her attention to us. Then she told us that they cannot accommodate us because the ship will be over booked. Just imagine how our group felt when we did bought tickets and queued early infornt of the line, then just put aside like insignificant people that doesn't deserve any explanation at all. These company needs to look into how they handle bookings and how they deal with there customers. Absolutely appaling customer service. If you don't want your only chance to enjoy your holiday totally avoid this company and go for there competition who has way better cruise ships and probably a much excellent customer service.

Worker had no logic! We were group of 40. In the front of the Que. When we were boarding, the woman pulled us to the side and started letting people behind us on. We kept asking what the reason was and she rudely just put her hands in our face telling us we have to wait and gave no logical explanation for it. Towards the end, she then informed us there’s not enough space on the boat.

In the picture you can see her letting more people on as there already problems.

Booked a Lysefjord and Pulpit Rock boat tour for my friends who visited Stavanger for two days from another country. 10 minutes before departure Norled cancelled the trip! Norled didn't send any email, SMS or phone call to inform about the cancellation. My friends only found out when they went to onboard the boat. This despite my friends called Norled one hour before to check for directions to the boat.

Since Norled cancelled too late, it was not possible to find any other boat trips. Meaning essentially my friends daytrip got ruined. Norleds only comment was "come back tomorrow", which is too late since my friends have left the country by then. At least hope for a quick refund of the tickets that I bought the day before...

Passenger ferry transport in Norway. There really is no need to book the expensive tourist ferries for fjord views especially if your already going to another destination. Prices are reasonable (for Norway) example:300 kroner Flam to Balestrand. Discounts if you book early. All our rides were smooth & there is a snack bar inside. The hot dogs smelled so good! You can go directly to the front of the boat (top deck) for awesome views. Wear a jacket, it gets windy.

Booked the trip from the dock after arriving on a cruise ship. Good value. Great trip. Smaller more personalised boat than other larger tourist operators leaving from sale area. Skilled operator, getting so very close to interesting sites including right up under a waterfall close enough to catch a bucket of water to share with all passengers.
Recommend.

We booked this tour through our cruise ship. The boat was comfortable (with leather seats) and had a wonderful front and top deck to view Pulpit Rock, waterfalls and the beautiful landscape. Our skillful captain brought us within a few feet of the sites and allowed ample time for all guests to take pictures before moving on. It was a several hour tour, so it was also nice to have well maintained bathrooms available.

We didn’t have long in Stavanger as we were flying home in the evening so booked this tour as the timing worked. It’s 2.5 hours of stunning scenery and it is definitely worth going on the top deck even if it’s cold and windy. Only criticism is that we struggled to hear the announcements of the places we stopped at.
