The ups and downs of a walk on Beachy Head and the superb scenery and difficult to beat. Then back to the National Trust cafe at Birling Gap for afternoon tea - almost perfect but ..... what's happened to the scones - not as good as they used to be!! Still a must for anyone visiting Eastbourne.

The National Trust have done a huge amount over the years to make this place as safe as possible, while ensuring visitors can enjoy the sights and sensations in every type of weather. I've been dozens of times, and my favourite experience was at high tide during a winter south-westerly gale. Wow!

What a great place to take a stroll and admire the coast! It is definitely one of our favourite places now, together with Seven Sisters Country Park and Beachy Head. Not too far from Eastbourne and Newhaven, on a beautiful road along the coast.

We walked from Birling Gap to Beachy Head, stopped for a drink in The Beachy Head which was understaffed and too packed, not very welcoming. Then we continued to The Pilot in Eastbourne, a lovely friendly pub with great sandwiches.

The famous place where Kevin kostner rowed his boat ashore: A truly breath taking scenic place & great food served in the local pub: I love riding my motorcycle round the area. A must see place if your in the area .

Birling Gap offers a car park (payable), a Cafe, toilets and made made stair access down the cliff to the large beach which is great for walking along and photo opportunities. For the more adventurous, the walks along the Downs to/from here are great. I did a 7 mile walk starting Cuckmere Haven/Seven Sisters Park along to BG and over... More

Fantastic views. Highly recommended. Toilets on the site and pay and display parking if you are not the National Trust member.

Great visitor centre with an interesting display. Was there on a bright, sunny winters day and took a walk along the beach which is reached via stairs. Very interesting to see how the cliffs have eroded over the years

The café is a tad overpriced, but it is on the top of a cliff with magnificent sea views, so I guess it has cornered the market. It has access via a staircase, onto the beach itself. Adjoining, is the National Trust shop, which is packed full of buyable items and quirky bits. Altogether a lovely place to visit.
