- david w1 contributionA wonderful afternoon with the family. We had a fantastic afternoon visiting for the first time. It’s very reasonably priced, the staff were extremely polite and helpful and the whole site was very clean and well presented. My two children (6yrs & 2yrs) loved the play equipment and we all enjoyed the train ride so much that we had to have a second ride! There was a good choice on the lunch menu and the food was served promptly which was delicious. Overall a 10/10 brilliant tripVisited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 October 2023

- GraemeEastbourne, United Kingdom274 contributionsA fair priced great day outWhy have we not been here before ? The whole place is organised, clean, well laid out and well kept. Prices from entry to food/drinks are all very reasonable. The entry includes one train ride per person but more rides are only £1.50 each person, the entry also includes a round each on the 9 hole crazy golf which again is well organised and well looked after. The maze is fun but not difficult so great fun for the youngsters as is the play parks. All in all a great place to visit.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 May 2024
- michellyUnited Kingdom61 contributionsAlways a joy to visit hereImmaculately kept facilities so always a joy to take the grandchildren here. If you live locally it’s worth investing in the annual passes. Lots to keep the little grandchildren entertained. The addition of the mini golf at no extra cost is a real bonus. Cafe facilities are excellent. Staff are very friendly and the new train driver a real fun chappie. We love our visits here and will be sad when the grandchildren are too old to come here. Well done to everyone who works here.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 24 May 2024

Great place, terrible new pricing structure. Went with my 4 year old daughter, partner and parents and total cost almost £50 for entry and a single train journey!
Just a 50p difference between adults and senior citizens and those aged 4 and over with no discount for the disabled.
Previously was cheaper for unlimited train journeys. Will definitely never be returning!

The railway is run really well with a lot of enthusiasm by the staff. There are pleasant walks around the grounds that follow the rail track. There are several play and picnic areas around this walk which allow the younger ones a goal to head off to. The area is very well maintained. You should also be aware that thew refreshment area sells food abd drinks. The childs picnic deal is very good. You can tell this place is owned by local people with a family. The kids meal is very reasonable for the quality that the children receive. If you go for a day then the play areas enhance a very well thought out minature railway.

Soo, soo, soo disapointing, we had booked online. The website does not really state what is included within the cost. We went on the 12th August for 10am, as it opened. We were first on the train and we just went around in one big circle. the train never stopped, we were expecting to be able to get on and off the train as and when we liked, but no - that was it, 1 ride. How disapointing was that, our 2 grandsons were disapointed too. Felt cheated and so did our boys, they were disapointed too...

Lovely few hours exploring the area around the lake, the large playground and of course ride on the miniature railway.
Will visit again if in area.
P.s. expected weekend during school holidays to be packed, but there was plenty of room on this sunny day :)

Walked here from Eastbourne; what a lovely place! All the staff were lovely. When the heavy rain shower stopped, ladies from the ticket office and cafe came and wiped down the children's play equipment to dry it - so thoughtful of them. Miniature steam train ride was fun and went right around the lake. Interesting history; built by the family. Clean and very reasonable prices. Great place to spend a few hours. We must have been the only adults there unaccompanied by children!

Outstanding! Truly fantastic! This is a great experience for big kids, sissy kids, kids who climb on rocks. Top notch staff, trains and the train is fantastic. A-shame not all the robotic display trains were out of order but still top notch and we will be bringing in laws, friends and anyone who will listen to us to visit next.

This is just such a lovely place for young children. Great parks, one for toddlers and one for older children, lovely train ride around the lake. A few miniature railways set up you can make go round for 20p. All food and ice cream is very reasonably priced. Lots of wooden play houses which my daughter loved. It's a nice simple family day out.

We went on a sunny Saturday morning with a 2 and 3 year old and really enjoyed it. Quite small but perfect with small children. A few different play areas (one more for toddlers) with picnic tables, some shaded. Snack bar is fairly basic and has a very reasonably priced children’s lunch box (proper sized sandwich, apple, juice, crisps and Kitkat for less than £5). Steam service mini railway runs at weekends; diesel during the week. The engine drivers are a father and son team and very enthusiastic. Good family fun!

I came here recently with my 4 year old daughter and I’m quite annoyed with myself for not visiting sooner! It was absolutely fantastic. It’s really easy to get to with ample parking spaces. Every member of staff we spoke to from the entrance gate, to the train drivers to the cafe staff were all friendly and engaging.
There are loads of lovely little picnic areas so even if it’s a busy day it doesn’t feel crowded, there’s lots of play areas scattered around and we especially loved the maze.
We had such a great day that we even joined up to the annual membership so we can visit whenever we want. I can’t recommend this place enough, you must visit.

Day out with our three year old son. We loved it. He was thrilled to see Thomas and loved the other railway models. The park was great and so was the garden and maze. No queues for the train ride which was also lots of fun. We ordered food which was reasonably priced. Only criticism would be the cost for children as it was only 50p cheaper than an adult. As there were 4 of us we ended up with a family ticket. We would happily return as we all had a great day.

Is there a locker or area to leave the child's scooter/buggy?

Is there a lower age limit? i.e. Can my 10-month-old sit on my lap and go on the train?
Written 9 July 2019
I had a 4 month old baby strapped to me and a 2 year old and had no issues

Hi, is this good for a whole day?
Written 5 July 2016
Hi half a day would be enough....but if the weather is good and you take a picnic you could stretch it out...

Silversurfer, you forgot to put seniors AND children, same price, it is NOT a reduction for entry, it is ticket with one ride £5.25 adults, children and seniors £4.75, family ticket £18.50, under 3s free entry, £2 each if you want additional rides, OR above prices if you want unlimited rides. Minature trains in glass cases and childrens rides are 20 pence.
