Considering that this is a charity, reliant upon very brave and courageous volunteers
Sep 2020
It is surely also a very expensive way to launch the Lifeboat with a vehicle costing over a Million pounds
Other Stations seem to manage with less flamboyant buildings in launch equipment costing less of charitable donations
On the other hand I feel that the lifeboat and the equipment should be the best available for these courageous people who venture out when others seek shelter

Thank you for your interest in Llandudno Lifeboat and you are right that the RNLI provides the best equipment to keep its crew safe and maintain an effective lifesaving service. They do so in the most cost-effective way possible. However, the TripAdvisor page you posted on is provided for visitors to comment on their experience in our Visitor Centre, which is closed at the moment due to the Covid pandemic.. For the moment, here is a brief summary which may be of interest: The equipment that launches Llandudno Lifeboat is in effect a fully powered mobile slipway which is determined by the topography of the beach and the tidal range. It was designed in house by the RNLI and is the most cost-effective way of launching the all-weather lifeboat. With regard to the building, the local Planning Department influenced the design because they wanted a ‘statement’ building in its current prominent location. The RNLI worked with this to provide accommodation for two lifeboats and crew facilities within the most reasonable budget possible

Shop and help save lives at sea....
Nov 2019
Yesterday (Monday), Hubby and me called into the RNLI shop in St. Georges Place. It is run by dedicated volunteers. There was a sign on the door saying they were open Monday to Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. I have recently made purchases on-line, but we still like to pop in the various shops and speak to the friendly staff. This shop was selling a selection of clothing, homewares, toys, confectionery, stationery and Xmas gifts. We purchased a colourful and quirky 2020 calender for £6 (card payments accepted). All profits help to support their lifesaving work so please give them your support.

Fantastic tour.
Oct 2019 • Family
Had a great visit with my children to the lifeboat station in Llandudno today. The volunteers there were so polite and helpful. The tour was fantastic and very interesting. I want to thankyou at RNLI for the wonderful work you do. My little boy is crazy about lifeboats since his grandma got him a model boat from a holiday in Scotland. For the last few years we have driven past often and stopped to look through the windows of the station. We have also visited the shop in llandudno. It was a dream come true for him to see the boats up close today on a tour.

Well worth a visit
Jul 2019
Very interesting tour but limited opening times outside main holiday season. The guides are very knowledgable. We did not realise that the RNLI does not receive any funding from government or lottery

Extremely fascinating and worthwhile visit on a Sunday
Jul 2019
Wonderful way to spend up to an hour approx having a look around and the guided tour - would be suitable for most age groups if they have any interest in this type of operation. My wife and I really enjoyed our visit.

I'm pleased to hear that. The Visitor Centre is 'staffed' by volunteers who have made it their business to be educated and informative. It's always rewarding to hear that their efforts are appreciated.

Closed when we were there!

But it was possible to see the state-of-the-art Shannon class AWB on it's tractor and the D-Class boat on its trailer through the glass doors. Pity they didn't do a Wednesday evening practice as it would have been great to see a launch.

We are very sorry that you were disappointed, but the Lifeboat Station and Visitor Centre are run by volunteers, many of whom have full-time jobs and all have family and other voluntary commitments. If you can make it there when we are open to the public, you will not be disappointed. If you want to see a launch, our crew training is every Monday evening and there are also training Excercises (launches) on some Sunday mornings, usually at 08.00. You can appreciate their dedication to saving lives at sea. Check our website http://www.llandudnolifeboat.co.uk/ - planned Excercises and Open Days are listed under 'Community', 'Events Calendar'. Thank you for taking the time to visit Llandudno's Lifeboat Station

The new Lifeboat Station is a very impressive building
Feb 2019 • Couples
This recently built Lifeboat Station is situated on the promenade towards the Little Orme and really is impressive.
Unfortunately we were unable to gain access in order to see the lifeboat and the equipment properly; we shall have to return on a Sunday.
The station has been very tastefully built and looking through the windows, the lifeboat and equipment look impressive.
Having lived right by the sea in another area of the country that had a lifeboat, I know and appreciate what a brilliant job the lifeboat crews do to save lives at sea, often at great risk to themselves, so they deserve the best equipment.

Great 'Toys' on Display
May 2019 • Couples
We were lucky to be passing the Station when the lifeboat was returning from a training exercise and were able to watch the boat being recovered. The boat itself, which cost over £2 million was recovered by a great piece of equipment, which itself cost around £1.5 million, so any donation would be well received as they do a great job and you never know if one day you will need their expertise.

It is indeed magnificent equipment, designed by the RNLI to provide its crews with the best technology that will make them effective in saving lives at sea while keeping them safe. Thank you for your positive comment.

Turned up on a Sunday, the only day it's open to the public. Just in time for a guided tour, very interesting.
