- Molly MPlano, Texas121 contributionsDon’t miss this!!!We LOVED this little museum!!! It’s been brilliantly curated from one man’s collection and what a collection it is! You first walk through fitted period representations of a home (lounge & kitchen), and then on to both local and universal war related items on display, Big, shiny publicly funded museums are one thing. This museum is quite simply another; it is a TREASURE!Visited November 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 October 2023
- Jonathan Paul K2 contributionsWell worth the visit.Despite living not far away I hadn't been before. I'm so glad I did. I was staggered how much genuine wartime artefacts there are in the place. There is plenty to look at. So much history about the area too, most of which I didn't realize before visiting. Exceptionally well presented and maintained displays and a friendly welcome. You can spend ages just soaking up the atmosphere.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 October 2023
- Mary H44 contributionsLlandudno’s little gem.Our visit to Home Front Museum was unique in history & nostalgia. There are thousands of artefacts illustrating both the sadness of human suffering & the material items of a time that should forever be in our memory. Visitors & locals alike should share our wonderful experience. Thank you.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 April 2024
- Polly03223Lancashire, United Kingdom38 contributionsWell worth a visit for the displays alone. Wonderful. An excellent museum which gives a real experience of life on the Home Front. The exhibits are really good and each one is accompanied by an A4 sheet with information about it. There is a display of photos and information about women connected to the area and what they did. Also a beautiful replica of the ‘Changi Quilt’ also with information. Very well worth a visit.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 April 2024
- Barbara PuckleAnglesey, United Kingdom33 contributionsWhat a gem!The museum is a fantastic place, the exhibits really give you a sense of life during the War. We will definitely return with friends and family. Laminated information throughout is very easy to understand and informative. Admission price is very reasonable and the owner is really pleasant and takes time to talk to you.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 April 2024
- Samantha J1 contributionUnique place full of original piecesGreat place to visit. I went with my parents who recognized some of the items on display. Affordable and really great to think an individual has collected all these items and displayed for us. Really unique and good for those visiting North Wales. Well done to the owner.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 16 May 2024
- nickycymruWrexham, United Kingdom17 contributionsLlandudno Home Front MuseumThis is a very interesting small but well stocked museum concentrating mostly on the second world war, and it has a good local flavour with biographical information about some of the people such as local Land Girls and army officers. There was plenty to see. The owner's passion for his collection was evident. I will be returning when I don't have grand children with me who are impatient to get round quickly. I particularly liked the recording of Neville Chamberlain's radio announcement of WW2, which contained a bit more than the main declaration of war on 3rd September 1939 which we usually hear. Very moving, and left me wondering how the original listeners felt when they heard the Prime Minister's sad speech.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 19 May 2024
- 61Sue7 contributionsAn excellent experienceThis was such an interesting museum, myself and my husband were captivated by the displays and they were so informative . Well worth the admission price and we spent a lot longer than we'd anticipated looking at the displays and exhibits. We couldn't believe this was the work of one man. A great museum and well worth a visitVisited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 May 2024
- morthin2015Porthmadog, United Kingdom104 contributionsSmall but full of excellent stuffI have been to a number of places like this which were larger, but for it's size it's full of really interesting stuff a lot of it sourced locally. Well worth a visit with a lot of stuff about how Llandudno became Whitehall, that is all the relevant government offices etc moved here for period of the war utilising the hotels for offices etc. I did not know that! On another note there is a daily bulletin about stories during ww2 about Llandudno on Facebook, well worth a look as a lot of effort goes into the researchVisited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 29 May 2024

We loved our last minute visit to this museum and would highly recommend it to others. It’s quite clearly a real passion of the owners. We spent just over an hour inside (possibly could’ve spent longer as there is so much detail to take in). 1000s of authentic exhibits from the period really make it feel like stepping back in time. As well as telling the story of wartime life across the U.K., there’s also a great focus on local life in Llandudno and the surrounding areas during that time. As others have said, there are no toilets on site and that is clearly stated before you go in - but plenty of public ones nearby. Finally, the admission fee is still low and so it is great value for money.

Very good collection and not at all what we expected. My husband loved it who is really into WW2, but I also found it quite interesting. Quite a lot of memorabilia packed into a small place.
We finished the museum in about 25minutes if you take time to read the information.
We parked on the road opposite which was free as there was no parking at the museum.

Lovely little museum in the back streets of Llandudno, it concentrates the mind into the horror of the war and it totally focuses ones mind into the social aspect of war on families.. this museum is all on one level but it’s very tight I doubt most wheelchairs would get around. I want to go again.. fascinating place well worth an hour or two of your time

We popped down to the Home Front Museum in Llandudno today and it is amazing! It is more of a personal collection than a traditional museum and it means you totally immerse yourself in the space. It is laid out like set scenes and is full of so much Home Front memorabilia that you couldn’t take it all in in one visit (and even if you did, the displays are tweaked and changed every winter). I really loved how the space is set out and I went around 3 times as I just couldn’t take it all in.
.
It is in a great position in Llandudno, all ground floor so easy access, has a very lovely little gift shop and it’s exceptionally good value for money. I would definitely recommend a visit for anyone who loves 1940’s.

We’ve visited plenty of WW2 museums across the globe & this is a real little gem. Despite its size the museum was very thoughtfully displayed & cram packed with so many interesting articles & displays that we were in there quite a while. A real bargain £3.75 entry fee too. Even better we got to chat to the owner who is clearly passionate about his collection & made our trip very enjoyable. Highly recommend

We visited here last weekend and were amazed at how many exhibits there were in a relatively small space. Everything was laid out well, with clear details and information provided. We particularly loved the family letters sent during the war, which you were able to read for yourselves. Excellent value for £3.75. Think they could easily charge more.

We loved the Home Front Museum! A very interesting little museum in Llandudno filled with items from the home front during World War 2. Each area contains numerous displays with relevant historical, cultural, and personal items. Lots of placards and laminated cards to read to provide conext and depth to the collection. Many personal stories as well to really bring the challenges and sacrifices 'home' to gain an understanding of what it was like during the war. Great little museum at a great price. Can be a nice little 30min visit or if you're like us you read everything it will take more than an hour.

I love WW2 museums so found this incredibly interesting. I just wish that this museum focused more on Wales’ experience of the war rather than the war in general. I have studied the war extensively - my reason for coming to this museum was to learn what the war was like for Wales. I did find that some of the information was repeated. In general though, it was a good experience! The displays were great and there was a lot of information to read for a very reasonable price. The guy on reception was very helpful and friendly. One thing to note - they only accept cash. Something we only found out when we turned up there.

Many thanks for your review and glad you enjoyed your visit. The museum is my own personal collection of Home Front related memorabilia that I have been collecting since childhood and as such isn't specific to one area but a general museum about civilian life during the Second World War.

The museum is my own personal collection of Home Front related memorabilia. While the building itself is not large, there are hundreds of items to look at. Most people take between 30 minutes to an hour.

Hi Kim, glad you found somewhere to park. The nearest two car parks are the one behind the Town Hall off Market Street or Maelgwyn Road car park (LL30 2YN). Both are pay and display. Thank you, Adrian.
