Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The pargeting (plasterwork) is astonishing and makes this remarkable old building in Ipswich an absolute "must see".

I suddenly came across this gem of a building while I was wandering the busy pedestrianised shopping lanes; the plasterwork and decoration is stunning. The shop inside had closed down and it seemed a little at odds with the partly down-at-heel surroundings.

Well worth a visit when you are next in Ipswich. There's an information room upstairs, in a strange room with homaphradites depicted on the wall paintings.

Otherwise known as Sparrowe's House, it is a Grade I listed building in the Buttermarket area of Ipswich town. It is a fanciful looking building with Tudor influences. Nice on the eye.

A simply stunning building Grade 1 listed building saved by the Council in the 1980s. The external plaster work (pargeting) is highly decorative and the timber frame is beautifully carved. It's in the pedestrianised Buttermarket in one of the main shopping areas and so on a visit to Ipswich it shouldn't be missed. Wikipedia gives some further information on the history of the building and what the figures represent.

Lovely Tudor (?) house which now houses Lakeland kitchen products. It also happens to be the place, years ago, the place I bought my first copy of Lord of the Rings. It was way back in the 70s when the Ancient House happened to be a bookshop. Happy memories of the beautifully maintained monument.

Will there be any point in visiting Ipswich if it was not for such beautiful ornate buildings as oppose to the unsettling new buildings of our times in the UK.

Ancient House is truly lovely and I hope it is always looked after.
