We always go to Bennington for the anual Chilli Festival. It is a great family afaire that both young and old enjoy. The event has grown and grown over the years, and with food, drink and hundreds of products on sale it is hard not to enjoy the atmosphere. Every year on August bank holiday.

The 1830's mock medieval gatehouse attached to the house is very picturesque and photogenic. Enjoyed seeing the snowdrops. Some very nice views around the garden, particularly the views from the lake back up to the house. Was slightly disappointed by the size of the gardens and the range of features on display. The tea room was very busy but the... More

My wife and I regularly come to Bennington for both the 'snowdrop' days in early spring and also during the summer. It is not always open so check the website. The gardens are not huge but provide a very pleasant walk with an interesting array of plants and architecture including a vegetable garden and various 'rooms'. Refreshments are often available.... Went to see the snowdrops on 15th Feb, but alas I think the majority of them had already flowered. I do not feel it was value for money - took 30mins to walk around the garden - not much to see/do/explore. I envisaged walking on a trail through woodland but it just felt like walking around someone's back garden and... More

Barr that not much else to see, yes they have some grounds to walk around in but compared to some of the other estates not far away its a typical sized garden. Toilets, well if you could call them that were an outhouse in very poor condition. No options for disabled or babies, no assistance to hand so be prepared...

We always visit the gardens at this time of year to see the famous display of snowdrops - over 250 varieties. The snowdrops did not disappoint - wonderful. What did disappoint was the tea room. We paid £11 for two bowls of mediocre soup and two cold (shop-bought) cheese scones. During most of the garden's open days, there are refreshments... More

Went last weekend, a few snowdrops which were nice & the gardens were lovely to stroll around. £5 each to get in, took about 30 minutes to walk around, thought there would be more snowdrops, tea room busy, no seats so decided to leave. Probably worth £2 each

Always a treat to visit this gem in Hertfordshire. The garden is a delight as not over manicured, and is in the most beautiful setting overlooking graceful parkland. The snowdrops are prolific, out now, and not to be missed together with wonderful helibores. Delicious soup and cakes in the original house kitchen.
