- Kate R20 contributionsGreat getting creative againI booked a taster session for my husband and I for our wedding anniversary. The whole experience was brilliant. Skilled and supportive guidance enabling us to produce pots on the wheel. We came back to paint them and love the moment of our time together. So glad you enjoyed your time with us. It always a pleasure to show people how to make pots on the wheel.Written 18 September 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 September 2023
- MermaidRachWeymouth, United Kingdom196 contributionsA Wheely great clay!I was bought a pottery taster session for my birthday. They get booked up quite quickly so be patient. I was in a group of 3 other people to throw our pots. Mark does a demonstration of how to throw a pot first. Then it was my turn to take the wheel! It was pretty easy to centre the clay but not so easy to pull it up into a pot. Mark is fantastic in guiding you though to make your pots. Once you have made your pots, you then get to decorate a vase, tile or pot. This is brilliant and made me very creative! Once my pots were hardened, I then went back to decorate them. I really found this process so relaxing and therapeutic. I received a text message to say they had been fired and ready to collect about 10 days after. I'm happy to say they survived the firing and am over the moon with the finished product. Thank you Mark and your glamorous assistant. I cannot recommend you enough! So glad you enjoyed your experience with us.Written 21 October 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited August 2023Travelled soloWritten 18 October 2023

Marks a brilliant teacher with decades of experience & knowledge, and he happily shares it with you. Mark is kind, patient & very gentle with his teaching. We booked a taster class where you get to make three pots, glaze them and take them home (extra costs if you want to take more of them). Wonderful experience & can't wait to do more! Loved using the wheel to create 2 mugs and a bowl. Mark is a very patient and informative teacher and the 2 hours went very quickly. Went back a week later to decorate, and now just waiting to collect fired items as staying nearby.
The studio also sells lovely handmade and beautifully painted pieces as well as Poole pottery pieces, and I would highly recommend a visit to browse, to throw or to just paint.

We’ve always wanted to try throwing pottery on a wheel so googled to see if anywhere offered this while we were on holiday, how lucky we were to find Tradpots! Really enjoyed the 90 minute have a go session, and we made 3 pots each! Mark was lovely and we really enjoyed his company and knowledge. If we lived there we’d sign up for the weekly sessions :D There is also a shop attached to the studio selling their high quality work at very buyable prices, something to appeal to everybody, I bought this really lovely single stem vase with a beautiful glaze, a special memory of a wonderful day. Great experience and I want to do it again! Thanks Mark, Jo :)

Using a pottery wheel has been on my bucket list for over 20 years and it didn't disappoint. We were made very welcome and had an enjoyable morning. With expert tuition we were able to produce pots worth keeping. We made three pots each, with less 'hands on' help with each succeeding pot. That shows in the quality, but even the last pots we threw were still good.

After watching The Big Pottery Throw Down on TV, I thought 'I want to try that' so me and my daughter did and we'll definitely being going back.
Mark is a great, friendly guy with whom we shared a bit of banter with during our time there. He's helpful and had patience with us when we forgot how to do something.
We used the wheel to create some basic pots/bowls as it was our first time and we're looking forward to trying hand building next time.
I'd definitely recommend trying your hand at this and going to Tradpots Pottery Studio, you won't regret it and no matter how your masterpiece turns out, you'll enjoy the experience.

Went today for a pottery session with my two teenagers and had a great time. You get to throw 3 pots each and one is included in the price. At an extra cost you get to go back and paint your pots but we decided to stick with the glaze they do for you. Probably a couple of weeks before we receive our pots so maybe not a good option for those that live a bit further away. The gentleman covering for their usual potter was head potter at Poole pottery for 50 years. He was very knowledgeable and very patient! We had a go at making vases, bowls and jugs. Nice to do something different for a change and can’t wait to pickup up our creations 😁.

I took a friend to Tradpots for a slightly different birthday experience. We had such a fun time doing something neither of us had done before. Mark, with his many years experience, made us feel we would succeed, his patience was much appreciated. We both left having made 3 pots each on a pottery wheel, which we will collect shortly once he has glazed them for us.
Would love to sign up for his 4 week course later in the year. It was great to actually create something with our own hands.
I would highly recommend Tradpots as a venue for a girls day/evening or to occupy crafty teenagers during the holidays.
The whole Craft Centre was a lovely surprise, some unusual gift shops and a fabulous cafe in which to congratulate ourselves on our achievements over coffee and cake!

On our very first session, we got to throw three pots on the wheel, supervised and advised by Mark, who provides a relaxed, but friendly environment in which to discover your potential.
The other students/potters are equally friendly with varying levels of skill and working in different styles.
We’ve extended our bookings now, having completed six weeks and a variety of pots, (some more successful than others).
Really enjoy the entire experience.

I came here for my birthday with my boyfriend this Sunday and we absolutely loved it! We were greeted by 2 very friendly potters who were very knowledgeable, and had a great way of teaching us how to make our pots, especially as neither of us had ever done it before. We got to make 3 pots each, and experiment different pot shapes with a helping hand along the way. It was a very fun experience and we would definitely come again. I would 10/10 recommend if you don’t mind getting your hands a little messy!
We also loved the courtyard it is situated in - it was very quiet and peaceful and made for a great morning.

My daughter (13yrs) had always wanted to try her hand at pottery and this was the perfect class for her. Mark was so welcoming and friendly and she quickly found her confidence. Making and going back to paint her pots a few days later was the perfect start to our holiday, and even better the pots were fired and ready to take home before we left! Brilliant! I'd highly recommend Tradpots Studio to anyone wanting to relax and be creative!

I organised a Hen Do for 7 of us (originally 9 but COVID had other plans) and we had such a giggle! Mark was more than accommodating and also had Alan (who had years of experience also) to help us.
Both Mark & Alan were up for a laugh and were into the spirit of things but were also fantastic at teaching us the art of pottery using 2 wheels. We also had a third wheel to freestyle where we made very questionable creations! Each of us managed to make 2 items each even though none of us had any experience.
5 of us are already coming back to paint our pots after drying and I will personally come back to dabble some more.
If your looking for a hen do that incorporates crafts and some banter then this is it!
