This bar is noisy, and has a certain type of customer, (heavy drinkers,) and I will never go in again. I suppose every town has one of these pubs.

A central Wakefield pub close to a large Wetherspoons pub. The Wakey Tavern sells a good range of draught beers, lagers and ciders. The Tavern has a bit of a "reputation", especially on a weekend. Having said that, the door supervisors are very good and are quick to react to any flare-ups that may occur.

Live near Wakefield and frequent this pub regularly. I find it easy and typically old style English in its ways. Plenty of selection of beers, ales and lagers, covers all aspects of a pub...ie pool table, darts, t.v's etc. A pint of lager costs £1.70 4 times cheaper than London and it is a city all the same. 30 years... Made the mistake of going in the Wakey Tavern when we first moved to Wakefield but had the sense to walk out before ordering anything. Intimdating atmosphere as soon as you step through the door, full of drunks and people who just look like trouble. The fact we've seen numerous fights outside there since, and they hosted the National Front... More

I'm ashamed to share street and town with this so called pub. Absolutely disgusting that you are hosts for today's racist march. I will obviously never set my foot in this place and I hope others will do the same and hopefully one day places like this will no longer exist.

After they hosted a march by the EDL in 2013 I have avoided this place, but was out with a group of friends who wanted to call in, so went along. It is a pretty standard pub but was full of overly drunk people watching sport on the screens, shouting swearing etc. Felt as if a fight were about to... More

All i can say is it is full of drunks. Fighting took place as we walked in and as we were sitting for our drink. The only person we felt we could talk to was the doorman he seemed welcoming. The staff were all over the place very sloppy and unprofessional. would not return here found much nicer bars to... More
