Enjoyed a lovely time here with the family. Very informative and interesting place. Staff friendly, reasonable entry fees, plus a smashing cafe. Well worth a visit. Definitely recommend.

Came here one afternoon with my wife. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The history of the mill is really good and there is a lot on show. Even walking around the garden shows quite a bit. A good place to visit if this is your type of thing.

We are delighted that you found us and enjoyed the visit...we have a lot of history as the mill is on a Domesday site! We are not experts on museums or history but we do our best to research each display that we do.

We found the mill almost by chance and were so pleased we did. It is full of interesting facts and artefacts- we could have spent much longer there.
It is well put together and the exhibits are great. The staff are welcoming and friendly.
There is a nice tea room at the back.
The mill donates its profits to five local charities.
I recommend this place to anyone who is in the area.

Me and my daughter travelled by train to bishops lydeard about 10 min walk from station , and were very pleased when we saw the mill , fab place to visit , great the fact they give so much to charity , so much to see outside as well as the great displays inside how the mill would have looked , life like mannequins and sounds and smells , fab little tea room . Lovely staff there , we will be going back .

Thank you for both your visit and your comments...we do try to make the place interesting but we, like you, have to thank our volunteers for the way they treat and speak to our visitors.....it is so important that everyone feels welcome. Today the weather was a bit against wanting to visit our attraction but people still came and found that it was a good place to come (we are quite a compact area) even when raining!

Mill is very interesting and staff welcoming and informative, has a small car parking area which could get full if busy, has a separate disabled parking area, lovely little tea room.

Thank you for your comment. We are aware that the car park is fairly small...we can get 6 cars outside and a couple more in the grounds of the house & one or two more if we know people are struggling. We also have a back entrance with some street parking which can be used as well! Fortunately many of our visitors come off the West Somerset railway so don't have a car! We are very lucky to have lovely volunteers from our 5 charities who see to visitors so thyat more can go to the charities we support. Yvonne

I took a friend to visit this place and enjoyed it very much - the displays are well done and capture the feel of the period displayed well. Lots of old tools and machinery to see and we found it very interesting. The cafe is small, but perfectly adequate. Lovely to see the ducks. A very nice, peaceful place.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your visit and found the displays of interest. We do try to add new ones each year and are currently working on a Land Army display, an old fashioned sweet shop and an early style laundry with (complete with mangle which we remember using!) Yvonne

We live locally but have never visited before.
The museum is very interesting & the mannequins are very lifelike.
We were lucky enough to see the water mill working.
The cafe sells very tasty scones and homemade cakes and the ladies that work there are lovely.
Beautiful gardens and lovely that the owners share the mill as a tourist attraction.
Was very glad we visited and would highly recommend.

What a lovely review...thank you so much! We try really hard to keep everything looking good, & adding new features each yea rbut advancing age is hindering us a little! I am glad you enjoy the cakes etc. We do know that coeliacs enjoy the choice of gluten free cakes and I am getting better at baking g/f scones!

We had a lovely couple of hours at this watermill in the pretty village of Bishops Lydeard. The mill has been restored to working order and you can follow the process from start to finish with interesting displays and information.Apart from the mill there are various mini museums and a beautiful cottage style garden. The cafe sells scrumptious home-made cakes and has an outside seating area which overlooks the mill race. This attraction is suitable for visitors of all ages.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit. The garden takes some looking after but we do enjoy sharing it with our visitors and we never mind people pulling up any weeds they see!! We are working on a new museum in the garage so there will be more to see next year. Yvonne Back

We are so glad you enjoyed the visit and thank you for your comments. We try really hard to add new displays each year but still keep the 'old ones' looking new! Yvonne & Charlie
