Pull off the highway into the parking lot and take a nice walk through the woods at Swell Wood. The bird blind was a large shelter with seating. Probably see some good activity in nesting season.

A smaller reserve but well worth a visit. Great for seeing Herons and if you walk the trails, a lot of different fungii can be seen.

Amazing to see the herons nests high up in the trees, and see the young stick their heads up waiting for food. Go early, stay quiet and still and you will be rewarded.

I was reviewing where to take the children out and about for Easter and this walk was very well received by my 11 and 7 year old. There are 3 areas; the woodland walk, the scarp trail and the heronry hide. Both walk and trail...More
