Delivering a sense of wilderness within an urban environment, visitors to Sutton Park can enjoy the captivating scenery, using an accessible network of paths. There are opportunities to enjoy walking, jogging, angling, nature watching, orienteering, play areas, restaurants and use bridle paths and cycling routes in the Park. Car parks are located at all the main entrances and the Park is linked to a variety of public transport routes.Sutton Park is an historic landscape that covers an area of over 2,000 acres and attracts over two million visits every year.In 1997, English Nature designated Sutton Park a National Nature Reserve and it is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).Lying six miles to the north of Birmingham City Centre this landscape is a mosaic of open heathland, woodlands, wetlands, marshes and seven lakes each with their own rich variety of plants and wildlife, some rarely seen in the region. It is an important site for wildlife and conservation, containing fine examples of natural countryside that have survived for hundreds of years. These habitats are part of a working grazed landscape where cattle and wild ponies can be seen grazing during the year. This park is a natural area where animals roam freely. Please wash your hands with soap and water before eating or drinking.

Sutton Park is the most wonderful area to explore. You might even get a surprise by seeing the ponies walking about and grazing. No matter what the weather it's well worth a visit even if you don't have any dogs.

This is a great place for all seasons with something to offer everyone. The open grassy spaces provide endless opportunities for families to play or picnic. The largely traffic free roads and off-road pathways are great for walking and bike riding. With two children's play areas and a donkey sanctuary plus the opportunity to see wildlife in its natural habitat... More

This is a great area for walking and cycling. A choice of tarmac roads or woodland/open area paths. Even at busy times relative quiet can be found away from the 'gates' - the traffic entrances to the park, and during the week often walks can be undertaken seeing only a handful of people. If you don't know the park a... More

Beautiful, rugged. Lakes, walks, pubs, food, cycling, wildlife, golf, wild ponies, leisure centre... the list is endless. Rather than read about it, its best just to go, park up at one of the numerous car parks, have a look at a map and start walking. The Bistro at Blackroot pool is Sutton's best little gem. Breakfast sitting outside overlooking the... More

The park is massive, if you lucky you get to see horses or cows wondering around the park. When sun is going down it feels so mysterious and magical. It is comparably close to the city, but makes you feel like you are hundred miles away. Absolutely in love with Sutton park and would recommend to all nature lovers !

We love just by the park and try to go as much as possible. There are loads of lovely routes around the park and always lots of runners/prams/dogs! I often take my 1yr old son into the park, there are a couple of play parks and he loves looking around at all the nature and animals! There's also the Donkey... More

Sutton Park is a beloved park for both locals and visitors to the area. It offers something for everyone - from dog walkers and horse riders to family play area and nature trails. The Park is also part farm land so cows do roam freely and there are 3 restaurants in the park offering a variety of food types.

Sutton Park has been part of my life for most of it. As a child I spent time in it, as a girl guide we used it for outdoor meetings and over the years it never fails to surprise. My husband and I walk in the park whenever we can, exploring and still finding so much of interest. It is... More
