Colchester Zoo is constantly developing and has won many awards for its work. With over 270 species to see, set in 60 acres of beautiful parkland and lakes, Colchester Zoo is well worth a visit. As you walk around the zoo there's plenty of play areas to try out including the indoor soft play area Jungle Tumble with a section for under 3s and all new play equipment where the kids can release their wild side! New enclosures include a walk through enclosure with butterflies and another with Rainbow Lorikeets offering visitors a chance to feed them a treat of nectar. Plus there's 'Bears of the Rising Sun', a state of the art enclosure which houses two beautiful sun bears , Jo Jo and Srey Ya. You can also come face to face with Komodo Dragons, see white rhino, giraffes, ostrich and kudu roaming together at Kingdom of the Wild and walk underwater through the 24m tunnel at the Playa Patagonia sealion pool. Learn more about the animals and see them up close by watching one of the 50 daily displays. You even get the fantastic opportunity to feed the elephants and giraffes yourself and take a ride on the 'Lost Madagascar Express' road train! Don't forget to pop into the discovery centre and have a go at handling some unusual bugs or get your face painted and transform yourself into your favourite animal!

Arrived just after 9.30am. The car park was quite empty and well managed. We brought our tickets (you can buy online in advance, for a cheaper price) and entered the park. Everywhere was well maintained and sign posted, so it was difficult to get lost or miss out any enclosures. The animals were really well looked after, clean and well... More

Good value and a full days entertainment. Good interaction and chance to feed both giraffe, elephants. The baby Rhino running around at a few weeks old was excellent. All animals covered and good aquatic wildlife as well. Plenty to do in all conditions as lots inside and out.

I have been visiting Colchester Zoo since 1979. My twelve grandchildren and their parents visit throughout the year. Have been to zoos all over the world and truly believe that the animals in Colchester receive the best care.

This is the best day out you can have with family of all ages! There is something for everyone. As a disabled person it can be a hard going day as lots of walking, but is using a chair then there are user friendly routes. We have been coming back for years, when the kids were younger we brought the... More

The enclosure for all the animals are very well done. We enjoyed the walking and exploring the many different areas of the zoo. The highlights were the baby rhino and giraffes. Watching them from the viewing area was great! A really lovely zoo!

I took my two granddaughters to the zoo in the summer. Tthe weather was glorious so we spent may hours walking around and managed to visit almost all the enclosures. The animals seemed well cared for and the zoo prides itself on conservation work. The only issue I have is with the price. For me (senior rate) and two children,... More

Our family visited Colchester zoo today, it was half term so extremely busy as expected but I have to say the zoo is very well managed, despite large numbers of visitors , the zoos standards are very well maintained , organised and equipt to deal with such capacity, clean toilets and eating facilities with everything open and fully staffed keeping... We have today ( a group of eight people) enjoyed a most enjoyable & memorable Animal Experience. What a fabulous way to spend a day! Kelly was our host for the day. She was great. Very knowledgeable of the animals with an obvious passion & dedication to her work. The experience of being so close to the animals where you... More

I have not been to Colchester Zoo for years, since my daughter was small. It has changed so much its a full days visit to enable you to see all the attractions. Even with a full day I would say you struggle to get round everything. There are picnic areas, children's play areas and it caters for disabled and pushchair... More
