- KDKColchester, United Kingdom1 contributionStep Into Christmas!Such a wonderful start to the Christmas week with the Miles of Music Christmas concert. Visually inspiring the innovative arrangements of traditional songs, together with fresh new ones, were delivered with pazzazz and sincerity by the singers. It made for a relaxed evening and brought smiles and laughter to the audience. Thank you!Visited December 2022Written 18 December 2022
- TimColchesterHadleigh, United Kingdom32 contributionsA real community theatre which provides a wide range of first class entertainment! The Headgate Theatre provides fantastic live entertainment at very affordable prices for the local community and is well worth a visit. It's a small, intimate theatre which is just right for productions such as the recent sell out performances of Goodnight Mr. Tom. The play was full of humour and pathos and at times there was hardly a dry eye in the house! Please check out the theatre, you won't be disappointed and you might even feel like joining the friendly bunch of volunteers who help to keep the theatre running smoothly!Visited April 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 25 May 2023
- sunshine_65_64Halstead, United Kingdom13 contributionsGoodnight Mister TomA fantastic production by everyone involved. Front of house were very organised and friendly and the cast were brilliant portraying the very raw and real emotion of this time and the events of the story. Being so close to the action in this lovely little theatre was an absolute bonus, we could hear and see everything so clearly and I think that made the experience much more intimate and mesmerising. The time flew by and all those involved should be very proud. Fabulous!Visited April 2023Written 29 May 2023
- Charlotte G1 contributionLovely local theatreHeadgate is a lovely local theatre with a wide range of productions. We went to see Goodnight Mr Tom which was superb, very professional and moving. Our son was involved in the production and I can attest to the incredible work that went into every detail of the performance behind the scenes , from costume to sound to lighting to props. Also the director showed a huge amount of care towards all the children involved in the performance, going above and beyond in the opportunities that were offered and the levels of safeguarding.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 1 June 2023
- Joey D1 contributionGet involved with this Theatre, you wont regret it!Amazing local Theatre that I have had the pleasure of being involved with. For my first ever performance the support from the director, staff and other members of the cast was incredible. For those looking to step out onto the stage this is a very nurturing and kind environment for aspiring actors. I have also seen several performances here myself and the acting, hospitality of the theatre and creativity that goes into each and every show makes it well worth the visit. It's something unique and interesting to do and is very inspiring!Visited April 2023Written 3 June 2023
- Susan bell5 contributionsGood but repetitiveI came to see Dick Whittington at the Headgate Theatre, it was a good show however went to see Cinderella last year and the main parts where gave to exactly the same people so was quite boring to watch as it’s like watching last years play. I think they need to change the parts next year and give others a chance as there were some amazing actors and singers in the chorus who were only on stage for a minimal time. Surely you would want to give everyone a chance? However this is not the case in this play. Same actors playing the big parts and same people in the chorus who were barely in it! There was an amazing singer in the chorus who had a few solos. She clearly outshone the main people but was barely on stage. If this is gonna be the case every year it just becomes predictable and repetitive. The show was good but just the same as last year, need a change in roles.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 2 December 2023

Went to watch a pantomime, first time we've ever been and it was an amazing night. From the moment we stepped inside all the staff were so friendly and welcoming, the theatre itself is so cosy and the production was very professionally done, with great audience participation which can only be achieved with a theatre of this size and a great pantomime dame. The small bar was well stocked, even had some local ales at very reasonable prices and once again the bar staff were very friendly and chatty. Will definitely vist again.

Just home from yet another cracking night at this wonderful local Theatre. This time we saw The Hellgate Club' presented by Eastern Angles Theatre Co. As always the welcome was friendly and efficient and the show itself superb, skilfully written and acted.

This small friendly theatre always delivers an enjoyable experience. Run by mostly volunteers the welcome is always warm. The facilities are good, given the limited space,
The production of A Tale of two Cities was breath taking. The cast, the costumes, the musical ensemble, the lighting and particularly the sound production were all so well rehearsed and professional. I heard every word and every note.
THANK YOU PLATFORM MUSICALS and THE HEADGATE THEATRE

Visited the theatre yesterday for the afternoon performance of A Tale of Two Cities, the musical by Platform Musicals. It was a very good production with quite a large cast for the tiny stage area. They managed brilliantly. Super songs & excellent singers. Well done to the whole cast. Very much enjoyed the show.
