Very entertaining evening spent at the Headgate Theatre watching Pygmalion, with the Chameleon Web Theatre Group. The whole cast were excellent, but especially Eliza and Alfred Doolittle.

We are delighted that you have enjoyed another production at The Headgate. Our season this spring has been brilliant - Shaw, Pinter, Tennessee Williams, Alan Bennett, and a host of other activity in between. We hope to see you again soon - our new programme is now on our "What's On" page. More

On Saturday we visited the Headgate to see a performance of A Streetcar Named Desire by the Paper Lantern Theatre Group. The production was amazing and the performances by ALL of the cast were incredible. This was our first experience of the Paper Lantern Group and we can't wait to see what their next production will be.

We visit the Headgate frequently as it offers a high quality programme of theatre - in our opinion better shows than the Mercury. It is an intimate space but the various companies are innovative in their use of the stage - and is accessible with flat access, good toilets and friendly front-of-house personnel. Last night we saw the History Boys... More

Thank you so much for your kind comments. I have to confess that I had to look up the word "couthy" and was delighted to discover that it meant 'cosy' ! We have a fantastic band of people who help to deliver a wide range of events, and we are so pleased that you have enjoyed your visit to us.... More

Triumph of a panto! Great family atmosphere - suitable for all ages - keeps the magic of Christmas alive on a gentle, non-commercial basis. Much better than seeing tv non-entities...

This was a wonderful production which had the twin benefits of complete novelty and uplifting emotions. We didn't know a single song or plot line and so the unfolding of each scene created a mounting sense of anticipation. We were not disappointed as the high production values and the intimacy of the venue combined to generate a truly feel good... More

It is so rewarding when a patron tells us how much they have enjoyed a production that they knew nothing about before coming, and judging by the smiling faces as audiences left the theatre, you were not alone! I will pass your comments on to the company that put on this particular musical. More

Headgate Theatre Productions (our in-house drama group) aims to put on at least 5 productions a year - one of which is our pantomime. Regular hiring groups such as Colchester Theatre Group, Mad Hatter and Platform Musicals and Plays regularly add quality drama or musical productions to... More
