It's only a little museum but it's free entry and they make an effort to provide things for the children to do.

Opposite the Castle, in a deconsecrated church, this is a free museum dedicated to the natural history of Essex, its flora and fauna, countryside and coast with a special focus on the impact of climate change, both naturally occuring and brought about by mankind's 20th...More

This is in complete contrast to the Castle museum. The Natural History Museum is on a much smaller scale and lives in a converted Church. Some of the displays are very well done - the estuary scene with a well painted background and a realistic...More

A great little museum and a great surprise, there's so much to do and see as well as being hands on, a real gem if you like museums. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Great museum in an old church small but worth a visit and it's free to get in so you can spend more money on gifts for the family in the town

I have been bringing children here for a number of years as a mother and a childminder. A lovely place for children with lots to see and learn, with hands-on activities.

It's a lovely little museum inside a church right in town. I would often go here for art references as it's got lots of animal exhibits. You can cross the road straight to the castle too!
