Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We attended friends wedding reception at the town hall, excellent venue with great food, dj & band on 2nd floor venue room. Town Hall security staff in attendance were excellent and helpful during the evening. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience here :-)

This building's architecture is very cool, it was built in 1898 and still stands today in good repair.

According to the Colchester District Council website "the Town Hall is open to members of the public to look around".
Apparently not. I couldn't get past the security desk as I was told that casual visitors are not allowed in.

On Monday 11th March I married the love of my life in you’re community room with 45 very special guest, You guys were super from the beginning right till the very end. Very supportive very reliable with emails and telephone if we needed anything or any questions we knew we were able to rely on you guys to answer our questions. Always had time for your guest and took care of us while we were there, allowed us to come in Thursday before to test the Music out for our ceremony and made sure we knew where everything was, knew what we needed and gave us everything we needed for our special day. We paid for town hall because it was cheaper than your usual country home, however if we had hundreds of pounds I can honestly hand on heart say we would pick town hall again and again, very very happy with the service we received so happy! Thank you 🙂

I was born and brought up in Colchester, a Roman town which claims to be Britain's oldest, and certainly it has the heritage to prove it - the castle (a former Norman keep/Roman temple; a Roman town wall; and numerous other architectural antiquities. Schooled in Colchester's history, I was always proud of my hometown, but on returning a couple of weeks ago I was astounded how shabby it has become. Once on a par with York, it has now fallen into a trap of advanced urban decay. The High Street, once the bustling, beating heart of the town is now punctuated by estate agents, fast food outlets and charity shops, Its only saving grace is a flagship department store - Fenwicks, a shopping mecca for upmarket brands. Elsewhere, the town centre is dirty and down-at-heel, with junky shops and roads which are continuously clogged with traffic. And the level of new building is alarming. Where once there stood a hospital and a small port, there now sit hundreds of mid-rise flats and houses. Bad town planning in the past created two central, uninspiring and unsympathetic shopping centres. Scruffy, wind tunnels both. All-in-all nothing brought back fond memories of my youth and together with my family I vowed never to back again.

We had booked a 3 night stay in Colchester for my partners Birthday. What a lovely town this is with beautiful old buildings, like the church & museum & the Town Hall. A great place to visit.
