Lovely morning stroll around a beautiful garden.
Visited the gardens this morning. Absolutely beautiful. Peaceful and calming to stroll around. Kathy and her husband were very welcoming. Kathy spoke about the history of the house and gardens. Enjoyed a lovely slice of gluten free cake and a coffee. Will definitely return at a later date. Gave me lots of ideas for my garden.

    Hidden gem in Bedfordshire countryside.
The gardens at Stevington Manor house are now 30 years old. They are an interesting combination of cottage garden planting and more formal areas with hedges, ponds and topiary. The unique characteristic in the garden is the reference to art - with areas of the garden inspired by Hokusai's great wave; Barbara Hepworth's geometric drawings; as well as Rothko, Matisse and Monet. On arrival, you are immediately struck by the white stem birches. These are underplanted with early daffodils. In the formal garden are many of the more unusual species snowdrops. In the far corner, with views beyond to the river, are clumps of yellow aconites. The cottage garden behind the house has many hellebores and some unusual low growing snow flakes. The other area of particular interest are the winter garden and adjacent Hepworth garden, with a number of ornamental shrubs. The owners are very welcoming and pleased to share their garden with visitors and answer any questions. It has a relaxed and friendly feel and does not get overcrowded. We are looking forward to making a return visit later in the spring. You can hurry around in an hour and see everything, but to enjoy the many unusual and interesting varieties of plants, plan to spend one and a half or two hours. There are plenty of places to sit down. The manor is not open, toilets are available.

Peaceful and pretty gardens to enjoy in the Spring and Summer. We would have liked to stop for cake and coffee but there wasn't anybody around serving.

A beautiful garden which was further accentuated with a guided tour from Kathy which was informative and interesting. We could have spent a lot longer there which means we will have to have another visit soon. The homemade cakes were delicious. A very enjoyable visit which has sparked lots of ideas for my own garden.

Today we visited this beautiful garden and met the two wonderful owners Kathy and Simon. It was our wedding anniversary and we wanted something special to do with our three children, 2, 3 and 11 years old and we are so pleased we chose to visit Kathy’s garden. The variety of flowers is impressive and all well looked after and disease free. Some of the roses are 20 years old and yet, they are still showing off in full glory. We had tea, apple juice freshly made from apples they grew in their own orchard and home made cake.. please even if you don’t like flowers, go for the cake, it was delicious and all very reasonably priced too. Our little boy had a little accident whilst playing with his sister and Simon was amazing, he gave us some ice and cheered our boy up with some extra free juice. That really made us feel home, he kept checking on us and Kathy came over too. Our 2 and 3 years old had great time playing in the kitchen inside the Pooh house. Our 11 year old was given a questionnaire by Simon and she loved looking around the garden, searching for all the items that were listed. We had great time and we are pleased we chose to go there on such a special occasion like today. We are already planning to return in summer with friends of ours and see the garden in its full glory.
Thank you Simon and Kathy for making our day so special.
